I wouldn't read much into them myself.
I'm just making the point that if the judgement is being made on pre-season games, the last conclusion you'd reach is that we'll be struggling for goals...

When you list your goals like that it appears more impressive that I'd imagined.
However, the defences ye will face would be much better than those youve played in preseason.
I think ye are quality right up to your front line which appears a bit weak.
Last year Derry came up as 1st division Champs and added a proven premier goal scorer, ye look much weaker that last year up top.
Maybe Purcell will replace Cummins' goals but I don't think he will.
Not having a dig at ye at all, just reckon ye could well play teams off the park and end up dropping points.

They may be pointless friendlies but they do give some idea of the quality in a team. What style they might play etc....
Being beaten in most of them isn't the end of the world but it doesn't do much for confidence either.
Our players know Rovers are a top team and we wont face anything even half that good during the season. Hard to gauge the quality of the squad tho when we don't know what our strongest 11 is yet, and Hughes has been played in goal for most of them but Holden will be No1 keeper, but is suspended for the first game.
Losing friendlies obviously isn't good but once we get going in the league against poorer teams then we'll see whether there's quality or not.
Bring on Friday I say. Teams can finally do their talking on the pitch.

And Bray?
Games friday night and then sunday morning was daft and tiredness showed. I'm not saying we havent been poor pre-season because we have, but it's hard to judge how a team will do when all we've played is team from the division above.

You're spot on.
I think Adam's point was that it's hard to look at the pre-season and say we won't score, because of who we've played. But overall, while looking at our squad, it's easy to say it'l be an issue for us.

I'd like to think we're half as good as Rovers. :p
