Depends what he was sent off for? there is a chance the red card could have been rescinded by the referee after the game. Especially since it was at local level. If Tralee played him illegally it will cost them the game. I cannot see how a manager or secretary would take a chance on playing him.
Tralee Dynamos keeper was sent off in previous round for a head butt on a Spa Road player. It was a straight red and not a second yellow. Tralee then played a league game a week later with out the keeper thinking he was suspended for that match and not for the next round of the FAI Junior cup against Shannonside. The keeper played in this game and as a result of an objection by Shannonside , Tralee have been thrown out of the competition and rightly so. A club who claim to be big should know the correct rules and if they don't then they should off made sure by asking someone .

What do u mean by a club WHO CLAIM TO BE BIG should know the correct rules...It sounds as if you are a bit happy Dynamos have been thrown out.Tralee Dynamos are a big club. And from what I was told it was a genuine mistake from them. They did not need to play their keeper if they knew he was suspended as they have a further 2 guys who would slot right in.Its a costly mistake by them but life goes on!

Not too sure wat happens now.Either Shannonside get to play Sherriff or else Sherriff get a bye in the 5th round I think. There would b a lot of people willing to tip someone off if it meant it was going to have a bad affect on Dynamos. An awful lot of jealousy and bitterness in the league cause Dynamos are successful.

If Tralee have been thrown out (and it looks like they have been) then, yes, Shannonside should be at home draw against Sherriff.

As far as I know.. Shannonside can't be put back in as the draw would then be null and void.. Stupid I know but I think that's the rules.. Sherriff will just get a bye..

I dont think they were trying to gain anything by playing a suspended player, they didnt need to!

if thats the case then why lodge an appeal? I mean if you aint gonna benefit from lodging an appeal why do it, unless you are out to get the team who beat you?

Shannonside FC V Sheriff YC this Sunday kick off at 2. So obviously if a club, beaten in a competiton appeal a decision before the next round is played, the beaten team replace the offending team. easy really. it only gets complicated if the next round has been played. Remember it happened to pike 2 years ago. they had got to something like the quarter finals before they were kicked out after an appeal from a team they haad beaten 2 or 3 rounds before, if memory serves me correct, the team they were supposed to play got a bye, maybe someone from pike might comfirm

St.Michaels were beaten by Pike Rovers 2 years ago but were reinstated to the competition after Pike were thrown out on appeal. Again it was for an illegal player, so surely the same rules would apply for all clubs.

Can someone shed some light here surely if Tralee Dynamoes played an illegal player in the game against Shannonside....Shannonside will be awarded the tie????

I was hoping the Pike/St Micheals wouldnt affair wouldnt be brought up again....dont want to go through that again....and if it is to be discussed can it be done with a level of maturity with no name calling?!!?!?

In this years FAI senior cup, was Sherrif not thrown out for playing an illegal player after they beat Shellbourne, and Shellbourne was re-instated so i expect the same rules would apply to the Junior cup.

shannonside have already been reinstated, i know the sheriff team well and they had a hotel for sat night booked in tralee and they've now cancelled it and hav made alternative plans to travel to limerick. as faras i know tralee dinamos hav been advised by the fai not to appeal as this case is very "black and white" and they would not have a hope. on another note the secretary or management or who ever checks these thing at tralee dinamos out should hang there head in shame, how could they not no the player is suspended for the next round its obvious its a national cup so why on earth would he miss a league match.. id say shannonside cant believe there luck!

whynot?

They player in question was legal on the day pike played st michaels, but he was illegal in the area stages,st michaels were reinstated after like beat them, not the other team who he played against in previous round,it's a long story and as longshanks said, enough said about it,water under the bridge, surprised to hear the fai told Tralee not to object, they would normally grab the cash.sherrif will take a lot of beating this year,

That can't be right. Surely St. Michaels must have had a grievance from their tie. I don't see how they could appeal otherwise.

the truth
09/12/2011, 8:47 AM
Specifically for the benefit of boy wonder; the facts are that the player in question was illegal on the day as it was not a year and a day since he played his last professional game. although it was exactly a year and a day since he played his last LOI game the arbiter ruled that as he had not been reinstated to junior status he was still a professional player. if this explanation is not clear to the boy wonder I suggest he contact the Pike sec for a reading of the findings!!!!!!!!!!!

Longshanks, you have your Fairview mixed up. This is not Fairview Rangers from Limerick, the 2010 winners. They were knocked out in a previous round. I think this Fairview is from Cork.

It was on the front page of target in the star during the week that robert bayly ex shamrock rovers and bohs center mid has signed with landen in the league of ireland off season. Dont know if he eligible to play fai junior but if he is will take some stopping. good central midfielder, very fit, scores goals and only 23
