Players from outside have been brought in and have been giving a chance and some of the youths are disappointed they havent got the same chance after winning the fai youths cup , not having a go at pat mc garry but when they lost to the boro and he was standing watching it as captain of the club and some of the youths who have came up through the club since they were 8yr olds and not been giving a chance hard to blame them for been disappointed.they went nearly 2 years unbeaten also with an fai and leagues to boot.. watched them against ashling last night some lovely players there.. balla late on last year had to do it and a few have started this year no harm in it.. clubs should be mixing the young lads thru with the older lads those lads won so much its crazy.. even if the lose a grip on this season which looks like they did already.. then blood them instead of signing players that will stay for a year leave when your losing, give them a shot..its doing us no harm out in balla... and if not send them out to our 19s and we'll do it a waist of very good lads.. hope the manager does the right thing and have faith in them..

That is a very good post , with winning the fai youths you have to have some faith in them or they will leave , i think pike have young players that have been giving a fair chance edward o donovan , boris, cian byrnes, gary neville all under 20 can anyone tell me whos k o hanlon that scored last sunday for pike.

in fairness to balla introducing the 5-6 under 17's last year gave them a real boost.all good, fast, hungry young players.they should defo be given a run.what harm can it do?it didnt do balla or pike any harm.them lads would be flying it next season if they got 10-15 games this season

How come a club like balla have no facilities. They always had schoolboys and youths so would they not qualify for the lotto/sports grants and so on? If any club deserves to have dressing rooms it's them for the amount of work they put in every week.

i agree to certain extent the point your making....
the problem is that a lot of the players directly involved have moved to under 19's league of ireland(4 i think)
two have moved to other clubs, one was tied up in the clare minor hurling team
now of that 7,5 would possibly have been the players you would have expected to step up(as well as madigan)
that's not to say there is more,it's just that the players that left would definitely have been challenging for places as the positions they play in are probably where fairview need to add to.
particularly c/forward(4 of the players who left all played in that position.
i can under stand the management reluctance to introduce to many of the current crop because of this.
still,i think moloney could defo step up,at this moment in time

Seen this young keeper play few times, will be decent if he sticks at it..He has the height and a good kick out.. Is he attending the Academy that Kevin Fitzpatrick and Eddie hickey are running at the moment does anyone know.

They dont own the land that they are playing on...To get grants you have to own your own land..So I believe :) ???

leather
01/09/2011, 10:28 AM
you need to own the land or have at least a 25 year lease on the lands...

Begrudger
01/09/2011, 1:26 PM
You also need to be able to borrow Money grants only cover a certain amount of it and the banks aren't lending..
Summerville need a win tonight it's a massive game fingers crossed otherwise the next few months could be tough with a 0 points tally hanging over the players with the tough games to come

With the amount of young lads out there that they get off the road and playing football you would think they would get looked after.
The Regeneration are wasting money all over the shop, you would think they would get them a field.

Star won 2 1, Summerville keeper was lobbed twice, thought Star should have been more comfortable than they were at the end. Hard to see where their first points are coming from. They were pretty poor, and don't have many players who'd get into other premier teams around town., maybe the right back who played but not many others. Its going to be a long season for them.

Went up to the Pike V Corbally game after it. Corbally really put it up to Pike, if other teams showed the same attitude this league might be a bit more competitive

They still lost and the league trophy will still be going up to Pike again this season..No one will touch them, might give them a bit of a game every so often but the final result will always be the same...

So your telling me they are unbeatable or even that a team can't even get a draw with them? That's a great attitude kid. No one should even try so. The attitude where teams are beaten before they play them. Corbally gave them a tougher game then Pike will get on Sunday away to Fairview. Says alot about the attitude of the players up in the view

Pikes worst game so far this season. Never got going. The midfield looked lost without Kavanagh. You can't play 2 of the same type of player in the centre. Tierney or Hartnett. Not both. And on form Tierney. Missed Kavanagh in that respect when he was playing Centre half last night. That said Corbally played some decent football and really put it upto Pike. And took their goal from the freekick well.

The penalty was a penalty. Moloney had his shooting leg clearly clipped when in on goal. Penalty in most games.

Good opening goal from Moloney also, great cross from Boyle, knock down by Barry and finished on the half volley to the top right corner by Moloney.

Jon Grant's first goal for Pike should have been a free out. Blatant free out for a push.
A just about deserved 3 points for Pike. They did enough, and for a title contenders, it's always a good sign when you come out on top in these games.

blinx pike never got going because we didnt let them.we chased and hassled everything.it was a good competitive game for the 90mins.corbally never gave up and it was a fairly level game.in saying that though pike deserve credit.they got 2 half chances and buried them.neville was excellent in goals for them lastnight.he gathered some very dangerous ball and looked very confident.i was surprised to see kavanagh at centre back but i suppose you can afford to move lads around with that type of squad.even though our performance was good as a previous post said we didnt get any points so its worth nothing.disapointed not to have got a draw but at least we gave it a lash.massive game now sunday against a star team going along nicely.I think its ridiculous not to have at least a go against teams like pike.with hard work and effort at least competing with them isnt a million miles away
