U17 defender Steven Smith released by Arsenal: http://arsenalyouth.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/arsenal-release-edge-as-they-begin-to-trim-bloated-squad/
Another player who has been told that his future as a footballer lies away from Arsenal is defender Steven Smith, who made 11 appearances at under-18 level last season after signing scholarship forms in summer 2010. Smith, like Edge, travelled to the Dallas Cup at the end of last season, but, after struggling with injuries last campaign, it was decided that a move would be the best option for all parties.

Just saw on SSN, Gavin Gunning gone on trial with Scunthorpe. Thats really disappointing news. Thought he was going to make big in Premiership. Kean obviously doesn't rate him. Would have hoped he would have got a Championship side, rather than a League One side

Gary Deegan injured as Coventry City beat Leamington
Deegan's only appearance last season was in the final game at Norwich
Coventry City beat neighbours Leamington 2-1 at the New Windmill but it came at a cost, with midfielder Gary Deegan limping off with a thigh injury.
The Irishman, who made one substitute appearance last season, managed just 43 minutes on Wednesday night.
Callum Wilson and Josh Ruffels scored for Coventry while Tom Berwick slotted home from the penalty spot for Brakes.
Among the City players given a 90-minute run-out were Roy O'Donovan, Nathan Cameron and James McPake.

Has the potential to be a very good Championship player at worst, just needs to stay healthy and be smart off the pitch.

The page should update itself automatically with the lineups, bookings, goal scorers and sendings off as they occur in the games in England and Scotland
If any players are missing, or any events go unreported, let me know and I'll resolve it as soon as possible.

BBC's Championship Preview thinks highly of Chris McCann:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/14386768.stm
"Chris McCann missed pretty much all of the last two seasons through injury but is now full fit and has signed a new contract. Top player who could boss central midfield next season."
Also has Stephen Carr as the key man for Birmingham, Long/Hunt for Reading, and praises Robbie Brady, and Joe Murphy.

Roy O'Donovan with the goal for Coventry tonight in the League Cup; think it's his first for them. Kind of surprised to see Dave Mooney hasn't yet figured for Leyton Orient (not even on the bench) . . . might be an injury as he had scored for them in a pre-season friendly.

Yeah, heard this goal as it went in on the radio commentary, it was Bell who crossed, Jutkiewicz headed against the bar from point blank and O'Donovan finished it. Also, Collins notched again for Shwresbury, two in two for him now, against Champoinship opponents, Derby for whom Mark O'Brien lined out at CB, not a great night for that defence losing 3-2 at home to a side two leagues below. St. Ledger not involved at all for Leicester. Stephen Quinn scored for Sheff Utd.

Assuming I didn't miss something I'm guessing that'd be because he is with the Ireland squad in Dublin

Anyone else catch Sheffield Wednesday vs Blackpool tonight? Clarke played the full 120 for Blackpool. He had an impressive work rate though I thought he had poor match, missing a sitter and his penalty in the process as well as some poor set pieces. Of course he's still getting back his sharpness, though he did show his versatility playing up top, wide left, and even slotting in at left back towards the end. The Clint looked a shadow of his former self, came on at the half and really didn't do much (though had precious little service, even after Blackpool went down to 10 men), though he did stick away his penalty. It appears he picked up from Robbie how to stand around and flail his arms when an perceived an injustice occurs though. James O'Connor played the full 120 for Wednesday in the middle and looked decent, also stuck away his penalty. Always thought he was unlucky never to have gotten a cap considering some of the other central midfielders who did.
Anyone know if Wednesday's keeper Richard O'Donnell has Irish roots?
