View Full Version : League Cup Semi Finals
I am clearly refering to the fact that none of us have any factual evidence here.
The only ones that do are Shams and Rovers officials.
Now when your ready respond to my whole post instead of conveniently dodging the fact that a referee who was a former season ticket holder at shams and was refereeing a shams game conveniently omitted some damaging instances from his match report.
Either him getting hit with objects from shams support or one of your fans getting arrested after stopping the game.
There's a fair bit of evidence...an official attendance significantly lower than what was obviously there on camera.
The other accusation is just that...peeled from a forum for the sake of argument with some conspiracy theory attached.

Absolute nonsense, the camera doesnt show the New Stand attendance since it is situated at the very back of the new stand.

Not at all, it is a valid point since it shows another discrepancy in the game.
Also another valid point is how a former shams season ticket holder is allowed to referee a shams game?
If Sligo have managed to keep the profits of more than 500 paying customers for theselves, and only split up the proceeds of the official attendance with Shamrock Rovers, then the away team has a right to complain. It would by no means be the first time it has happened in LOI football. And to be honest, I can't imagine any other reason why a club would announce a lower attendance than there actually was.
Of course thats true, but the wider picture is that Sligo fans are consitently saying the attendance released by the club (through the programme) is low. For league game the money isn't split, so Sligo have absolutely no reason at all to give low figures. Unless of course, they're the correct figures and Sligo fans are wrong

The last "official" attendance given for a League game that I can remember was 1300 and something against UCD.
When there was clearly at least 1700-1800 at the game, even Stu who was there recognised that fact.
Its not some sort of self dillusion by Rovers fans, its just the simple fact that the "official" attendance figures given are wrong.

Fair enough, i don't spend much time looking at the attendance thread, so didn't know that Sligo seem to give lower than expected attendances.

Are you for real. Thats no evidence of what happened between the club representatives and how the gate was allocated on the night.
Learn to think for yourself instead of reading some BS and take it as being fact.

For what it's worth, that wasn't in the match programme (yet) as it was at that game that I was reading the attendances.
The previous game had an official attendance of 1337, and I wasn't at that one (it was the midweek one).
Edit - and obviously, me thinking a crowd was 1700 doesn't mean the crowd was 1700.

Heard the cash was counted and amounts split and agreed between the clubs and FAI , i think the lower attendance figure comes from cash / €15 admission , given there is a lot of concessions and a lot of €5 kids taking seats in main stand it wouldn't be too far off, Shams would not of left the ground unless they were happy wiht the allocation thnk this is just a smokescreen to try and deflect from the result , nodody sems to mention that shams are playing like Wimbledon at the moment route one all the way.
Punctuation....?

You see there you go saying one discussion cant be discussed because only the relevent parties are in possesion of the facts but then injecting some of your own "facts" regarding the Referee.
Christ sake he gave you every minor and one or two major decisions the other night-What do you want a replay.
As for Rovers fans trying to deflect atenion away from a defeat-Jesus wept.It was a league cup game, yes it would have been nice to win but we didnt -Its over.We have a match tonight.:ball:
And on the the style of football-Have a look at the league table:cool:

So it is not a fact that Doyle is a former Shams season ticket holder?

You did see your goal right?
Most would call that a major decision?

Yes because Shams have been so inundated with cup finals as of late they just cant keep track of them all.
And on the the style of football-Have a look at the league table:cool:
Had a look at the league table then had another look at how horrible yee play.
Like throwing Dan Murray up front for the last 15 minutes? ffs make an effort.

I don't know if the ref has or had a Rovers season ticket-I'm not Neil Doyle.
Rovers goal crossed the line-I seen it-I dont recall a 1966 style protest.Your keeper made a mistake, simple.Anyway,it was the lino gave it not superhoop the ref!
I'm sure a press conference will be called in Sligo in november when the style championships are being handed out-Too bad most of the press will be covering the actual champions winning the title.Dont forget Joeys flick thats sure to win you a few points in the pretty league .
I'll not respond to the gibberish at the end.
You gotta love the multi-quote post. The M.O. of someone who hasnt got a leg to stand on............and Mypost!

It seems to be common knowledge among shams fans.

Controversial decisions dont require 1966 style protests.
Just because the linesman gave the goal is irrelevant, the Referee okayed it, a controversial decision.

Yup, congradulations you might actually win the league but as I stated before doesnt deflect from the fact that the brand of football yee play is ugly especially considering the budget yee have and the players at your disposal.

Of course you wont, throwing Dan Murray up front is the mark of a team attempting to perfect the hoof the ball technique.

Only rasputin would whinge about a goal given in a game you actually won.The amount of Sligo fans apologising on your behalf in Mooneys on Tues last was hilarious.
If Neil Doyle was/is a Rovers fan then I would have as much of a problem with it as you as he obviously overcompensated on tuesday in much the same was as Loyalist gunmen in the north with an inkling of a catholic in them were the most vicious as they felt they had more to prove.(eg)Lenny murphy, micheal stone. Not an excuse, sligo were good for their win.
No point in repeating myself, but we are 5 points clear and they dont hand out trophies for pretty passages of play. You're happy-I'm happy-We're all happy;)
I must study sligos final quarter tactics when behind closely in future just to check they dont throw the big men up as I'd imagine 100% of other clubs from schoolboy to champions league winners do-But then sligo fans always see themselves as something different-Or maybe thats just you!
Thanks for proving my last point again as only you can

Stop that, Dodge - you're going to force this League Cup Semi Finals thread back to irrelevances like the result rather than important things like conspiracy theories based on guesstimates.
This final seems to be taking considerable time to arrange....any confirmation on ko time and venue???

Shams fans are calling our club robbers. An attendance figure has been given out and all of a sudden were shafting an other club. Neither club, especially Shams, have made a statment on this. Until there is somthing official, the Mons on here would want to sort this out, because all that is happening is Sligo Rovers name been dragged through the mud.
while i agree with your comments i dont know what you think we mons can do about it

The right decision, it has to be said.
The better stadium has been chosen, and also the one more likely to maximise the crowd.
Let's hope it's a good game and a good spectacle. I reckon Sligo will do the business.

It was never not going to be in sligo really, was just time confirmation we were waiting for. Would be stupid of us to bring it to gortakeegan and have to pay out for extra seating, security etc and have a smaller crowd.
We are not the best run club for nothing you know! :-

does anyone know what the prize money in this is. As far as I could gather (very hard to find info) the winners get 15 000 and the runners -up get 7 500. what about gate money ? lets say 3 000 so that would be 30 000 E split 40/40/20 and then TV money. so a minimum of 20 000 odd and 2 500 for television rights?

I can confirm that the official projection from the Showgrounds is that the attendance will be 27, and one dog. As it's been found out that the dog is a season ticket holder, we won't, as originally planned, be able to pass on the price of his ticket to Shams.
