A draw between Monaghan and Derry next week confirms Derry as champions and would give Monaghan a play off position.
A result that both teams would probably settle for at this stage.
And for my heart. I can't take anymore of this madness.

Yeah. Do that much for me Derry. I never ask for much. Well one thing but that's not happened. Yet.

A draw suits us and our club house will suit your celebrations.....

Eh why? The result in that match has no impact on us unless its like 4 nil?

Because if Derry win and ye win then we'll play ye in Tolka and not RSC
CSFShels

The exact same happens if Derry draw. We don't need to concentrate on such things. Just winning. Other results are pretty much irrelevant to us. Of course it'd be a minor inconvenience if Monaghan beat Derry but we won't lose any sleep over that.

Any Mons fans like to explain wtf the 2nd Mervue goal was all about last night?

Grimes was protesting with ref and think he kicked it away thinking ref would blow for him to retake but ref didn't. Simple case of not taking refs instructions and playing to the whistle.:-(

Just been told, lynch called at grimes to give him the ball for the free to be taken from right place. Gaffney took it and scored.

Seeing a goal like that makes you feel that the game was fixed but it's the FAI we are talking about and are unable to fix anything.

I would rather wipe my ass with a broken bottle than do Shels a favour. Not to say I don't want us to win. But I would rather Mons up than another team for the Dublin and District league!!! :)

Id say both teams would have settled for that at the start of the season too :-)

Sorry for spoiling the party :D
You just delayed it ;)
Surely the Derry players will want to beat Monaghan....after getting beaten by them in the brandywell???

Derry aren't going to want to win the title with a draw. I'd imagine Monaghan are going to be beaten and will have to rely on Waterford getting a result against us.

I actually think we've a better chance of winning now that the league has been won. Our players will be more relaxed and we'll play more to our strengths, instead of worrying too much about conceding.
If I'm honest though, I don't mind too much about the result. I'd like to see Monaghan get prompted.

When Derry play to their best they're the best side in the league without a question so I would imagine without any real pressure on the players they should be able to put in a strong performance. I think they should have too much for Monaghan.
We know that if we win we make the playoffs though so as much as it would be nice to get 2nd we shouldn't worry ourselves too much about the Derry-Monaghan game. Its all about getting the result in Tolka.
Reading some of their facebook's they want to win it.

It's a great battle to be played out for the play-off places. It'll be very hard luck on Monaghan if they were to miss out. I hope to see Waterford gain promotion to the Premier.

Well done Derry, fully-deserved winners over the season.
The season was two games too long for out lads, we played more cup games this year than in the last 4 seasons combined! If Matthews had've taken over at Shels sooner we might not even have made the play-offs. I hope Mick can lift the lads for Tuesday night

Patsy McGowan is thankfully fook all to do with Finn Harps, he is a convicted thug (I love that we don't have to use the word "allegedly" anymore) and is "allegedly" a complete and utter fruit-basket who will hopefully never darken the grounds of Finn Park with his presence ever again.
Now, in the name of all that is holy, please don't bring that hoorbags name up ever again.

Who knows what would've happened. Here's hoping we build on from here and finally get out of that hell hole. I'd hope to see ye do well on Tuesday but I can't see past Waterford. May the best team win.

Congratulations Derry City! They were the best team in the division as the table shows obviously. I glad to see the Premier will be more than a two province division next season as well.
I'm glad Monaghan have gotten into the play-offs. They've had a good season and earned it. I can't see them getting the better of the team from Munster though. It was a good win for Waterford last night. They'll give either of the two Premier clubs a good game.

I think people are very quick to write off the chances of a Monaghan team that beat Waterford all three times this season. I get the feeling Mons are a tiring side, but they're obviously more than capable of getting a result if they perform on the day.

31/10/2010, 10:02 PM
They are exhausted the poor lads. They have had alot more matches than they even imagined at the start of the season so to have another one (and potentially 2 more after that) in front of them, is very tough. But with success comes the extra effort and this has been a very successful season.

31/10/2010, 10:56 PM
I wouldn't be writing off Monaghan at the same time. They have had a good season and cannot be discounted. Waterford have come good in the last few weeks though, better that I thought they would. It wasn't easy to go away to Shel's on the last day. It'll stand to them in the play-offs. If Waterford do beat Monaghan, I'd favour them to get a second home win in-a-row in the first-leg of the play-off final a few days later.
