The arrogance of Fran Gavin is unbelievable, Rovers are a team that have lived within their means and played by the FAI's rules throughout the season and this is how we are treated.

I hope he deals with the clubs that have not played by the rules this season properly. If that means relegating 3 or 4 clubs then so be it.

The league is a bigger shambles now then it ever was before the fai took over. It time for a serious shake up starting with turfing out the fai for platinum one, at least they could organise the madrid game properly.

I sent Noel Mooney an email last night and he responded with what was basically the same reply as everybody elses. It seems to me like they are trying to placate us and when it gets nearer the time they will say well its too late now!
I also rang liveline today thinking that with Des Cahill presenting they would definitely bring it up. The researchers told me that they would almost certainly call me back and speak about it on the show but the never did, they were obviously too busy talking about lienster rugby and weddings in kilkee castle!
We need to get our protests heard on the national stage. I think we should bombard all national papers and radio stations etc over this and try to turn the screw on the muppets.
I've said before that there seems to be a dismissive attitude towards our club from the FAI to RTE and co, from what I have seen over the past two days there is no seems about it.

Hes saying official avg attendance at Showgrounds was 1368 for year so he doubts there will be a problem for cup final.(does he not know we brought approx 10000 fans to Landsdown in 94 - He said he was at game)

He also said official attendance for cup semi was 3200.(Bear in mind he was at the game - ???)

He basically said he would be meeting clubs next week to decide ticket allocation. No chance of a change in venue...

In relation to extra temp seats (like in madrid FRIENDLY where our game with shams was rescheduled at last minute) he said the last thing cup final needs is empty seats behind goal (Like empty seats looks worse than empty space)

He said that last years final which was 2 big clubs Bohs Derry attracted only 10000(Ie Sligo Rovers small club)

He said our attendance at our home league on Friday would be taken into account when deciding allocation(If we beat bohs tonight it may not be too big a game and also many people who work outside of sligo may not make the game)

It just seems they are being as awkward as possible.....I think we'll be left with the 2500 tbh but hopefully wrong

Does anybody know what the official average home attendances for Bohs and Derry was for last season?
Also I can't wait for the new format for the FAI cup next season. Think it may involve Real Madrid or someone getting a bye straight to the final thus ensuring a bumper 50,000 plus crowd in the new Aviva Stadium. Obviously Fran has to have some cunning plan up his sleeve so there will be no empty seats!!

I was thinking that too. But the longer it goes on, it might end up being too late to sort out extra tickets/temp seating etc.

We can't really complain yet though, until the FAI meet the clubs and officially confirm how many seats we're getting.

Any word on this? Meeting take place yet?

Only a guess, but i'd say our allocation will be approx. 5,000 now i'd say. Still not great though.

if it was to be around 5,000 that'd be great imo. sell them and see from there then if people really want them. anyone after 5000 would be the sunshiners anyways

our allocation will only be 5k if additional seating is put in place - if not then there is very little chance we will get more than 3.5k

I don't think the FAI would give us that luxury. If we sell our allocation, i'd say that's it.

Sorry Lads for not coming back before this.
The allocation of tickets is as follows:

- Season Ticket Holders, 400 Club Members, Johnny Chadda Club Members, Volunteers, Match and Player Sponsors

All of the above can get their tickets on Thursaday evening from 6pm to 9pm in The Showgrounds and also on Friday from 10.30am to 5.30pm. You will be allocated 2 per person.

The balance of the allocation will be put on general sale on Friday night @ the Drogheda game from 6.30pm. You will be allocated 2 per person.
If our initial allocation is sold on Friday night, we will have a waiting list and will apply to the FAI on Saturday for a further allocation.

Our initial allocation is 4,500 tickets.

Bravo,
We wont get the tickets until Thursday so I cant be certain on the kids ages-I am assuming u-12.

Jebus,
The tickets will be numbered and I'd be fairly certain each ticket will be allocated a specific seat.

A Dolan,
If you can get be 10 more, you can have the whole of the red stand in the Showgrounds for yourselves-special price only 10 euro!!
Hopefully I might be able to get a part of the stand sorted for the Forza lads and they might let you stand with them!!

Red Metal,
Unless you are in one of the groups, you will have to wait until Friday evening-sorry.

This really needs to be confirmed BEFORE the tickets are sold. As it will affect season ticket holders etc who wish to sit with friends or family.

I just edited my original post to say that tickets for the above groups will also be on sale on Friday from 10.30am to 5.30pm.

Numbering etc

We will be selling the tickets by blocks-you can sit anywhere within that section ie first come first served.

Kevin, would the simplest way to sort out those who want to stand up and sing, be for lets say, 200 tickets be put aside, and whoever buys a ticket can ask for one for the singing section. Then if they don't all sell, put them on general sale with the other tickets for anyone?

Apologies if this has been done to the death. Still think its a complete joke there'll be assigned seats. Don't think too much heed will be payed to it on the day mind you

Would it not be fairer to put the General Sale tix on sale first at the game Friday night? Not all regulars will be able to get to the ground during the day with work and, or not being in town. This would also encourage more 'Sunshiners' to go to the game.

Sorry! Misread the post. General sale does only begin at the game!

Are the seats allocated or on a first bum first seat basis- i need to sit fairly near the kids.

My reading is that the tickets are sold in blocks. Get all your tickets in the same block and arrive in time to all sit together (that's assuming anyone wants to sit beside you at a cup final)

Unless I'm mistaken, it shouldn't be too hard to organise tickets for singing section. All it takes is keep a certain section (for example Section O-the best section;) seats 1-200) of tickets apart from the rest that are for sale and anyone that wants to stand/sing can ask for a singing section ticket. Not everyone that might want to sing will be able to make it to the Showgrounds tomorrow night and therefore could end up away from the main singing area.

Kevin L, can this be done for the singing crowd?

Bad decision putting it in the uncovered section. There will be better athmosphere if you put it in stand with the roof.

The Forza lads are the people that follow the club in all kinds of weather around the country all season and you want to reward them by putting them behind the goals in uncovered seats, just to keep some sunshiners a*se dry!!

I still think there is too much panic over the tickets still reckon there will be plentyIm sure there is a plan that all allocated ticklets are sold there will be temporary seating put in.Fai just need to know that all tickets are gone before going to the expense of putting in seating. If Im not mistaken the 94 final had same delimma before been swiched to Lansdowne

At a special sitting of our committee myself and all the other members of the SMSRSC voted to spend the affiliation fees on beverages the day of the final, the result was a unanimous 2-0 victory for the motion.:D
We have booked a local phonebox for our next AGM. Would there be a grant available from the MC towards the rental costs?:p

Jeebus,

Our stand holds 3,000. A portion of this is taken by the FAI.
Our stand is broken into sections. Each section has so many kids places and the rest for adults. A figure of 200 was mentioned for the signing section which is impossible to do because of the kids tickets. We are working with the various groups to come up with a compromise but it is very hard unless we know exact numbers.
If you have any suggestions, throw them out and we will look at them.
