Traffic is probably too light to bother reopening it, but there were some gems there.
We're all missing football. The covid thread is really the only one active. So how about looking back and posting on favourite, worst, best, classic Foot.ie posts and members. I was looking back through some old PMs and there is some great old posts on stuff that happened in LoI that made me laugh, conversely there are some messages that are sad being from people that are no longer with us. Something different from Covid-19 please! I've been registered under 2 names and the first I cant remember but it was from the old Eircom League message board when it ceased (Greenblood is an old member from there that I remember). mypost's direct bus routes and spaceships get occasionally mentioned.
I dont intend this to be a thread of humiliating posters - I am guilty of the odd cringe rant myself looking back!
Site traffic is probably down so why not....I dont recall it being done previously?

You can't spell failure without FAI
What? What? What?

#NeverStopNotGivingUp
That was great - but I can't remember what thread it was split from originally? It kind of loses some context without that.
SuperGretna trolling the entire site but then mysteriously vanishing just as Derry beat Gretna 5-1 was fun too.
Ah yes, few things about that spell, the wall of noise from a packed away stand in Fir Park was something else even on TV. The mindboggling bitter lack of post match dignity by Gretna. Of course no football fan wants to see a club fold but it was hard to feel too much sympathy - all topped off with a dose of poetic justice for SuperGretna and Co, almost as amusing Matthew Tipton's hatrick as Neale Fenn's replacement ;p though those 5 goals were not scored with the panache of Derry's tbf. Bar the keeper's early blunder it was a perfect performance1
Haven't been on here as long as everyone else, but I'll never forget Tricky Colour advocating for Padraig Amond's call up to the EPL/Ireland squad: https://foot.ie/threads/140627-Padra...=1#post1871069
Includes the immortal description of a football being "a bag of wind" and the brilliant "the goals are the same size" argument.
RIP Termonbarry Alberts. They had the best half-time monkey knife fights.
I miss the Mon Dog excitement that brewed on every team's board in the run-up to a trip to Gortakeegan.
One of the posters on the 2001 thread is an RTE news correspondent these days. Saw them on TV last night.
Post of the month is sadly missed.
Termonbarry.
Myposts spaceship.
Cool dogs adventures.
Bring back the glory days.
https://kesslereffect.bandcamp.com/album/kepler - New music. It's not that bad.
Hairy Bowsie on the merits of a Shels player on his way to St. Pats.
That clown Tuff Paddy on how this was an Irish site for Irish people. Impossible to fathom that the guy was an established news reporter.
The most I've ever laughed on this site was when, in the middle of a bad-tempered discussion, one poster (can't remember who) ended a particularly vitriolic post with the phrase 'so bite me sac.'
That "bite me sac" one does ring a bell alright
Some great stories on the Faroe Islands 2005 away game thread too
