Of course he'd say it. It's been going downhill since Conan O'Brien left. Now and again, they come up with an episode that's funny but I don't watch The Simpsons as ritually as I used to.
Did anyone watch the new episode tonight? The one where they rewrote Simpsons history, put Marge in college in the early 90s and had Homer as Kurt Cobain? Is this show even trying to be funny anymore? I stopped watching years ago, but have recently caught this episode and the one where they take off the Departed. In both instances it's plainly obvious that they aren't even trying to make humourous cultural references (like South Park do), more they are just trying to fill episodes and series. Considering how bad this TV show has become I have two questions, does anyone still regard this as the greatest TV show of all time, or has Matt Groenings quest for more cash ruined the reputation of what was once a great show. Laughably I read an interview with Groening who claims that the current crop of episodes are among the best the Simpsons have ever produced![]()

I say this as someone who thinks both the Simpsons (series 3-8) and Futurama are some of the greatest TV ever produced, Matt Groening is a worthless hack. If the guy gave any sort of a **** about the characters he has created the show would have ended when he left for Futurama. It would not have been put into the hands of people who used to write for Blossom. Since then we have had the continuity of the show ruined(I know it's a cartoon, but tonights episode putting Bart being born in the year 2000 was the pits), and have had one of the more lovable characters of all time in Homer being turned into a dislikable *******. Where once he was a loving but dimwitted father, he is now a complete and utter ignorant piece of ****, not funny in any way, just offensive. As you know Wangball Eric Cartman is probably my favourite character TV has ever produced, but his charcter is based around him being naturally racist and offensive, Homer's wasn't, and turning him in that direction smacks of copying ideas from other shows (South Park and Family Guy in this instance).
Groening is a cash driven moron who has taken what was undoubtably the greatest TV show of all time and nosedived it out of the top ten through his sheer greed. People who didn't love the show in the 90s might find my anger at him bemusing, but people who once loved the show and now think it is rubbish will understand![]()

Yes, yes I do.
Always worth repeating for the sake of the young uns that, but for the simpsons, your South Parks, Family Guys etc... would be filling airtime on Porn channels the way Fritz the Cat used to. They would be nowhere near a mass audience.
No ...but the concept as you explained it has some merit though I can't judge on the outcome. Timeline was always messy and somewhat improbable in the Simpsons.
" I wish to God that someone would be able to block out the voices in my head for five minutes, the voices that scream, over and over again: "Why do they come to me to die?"
noody can say simpsons isnt the best animated show ever produced, it is, but the new episodes are cack, the one which ricky gervais did, was butal beyond desire lads, total crap!!! but as jebus said if you love the show you undestand, for cureent episodes, south park and family guy are streets ahead but simpsons will always be number one for the decade of priceless episodes it gave us the sooner it stops the better.

I understand that without the Simpsons we wouldn't have South Park, Family Guy, Futurama or even shows like the Critic or Duckman, but that still doesn't stop me thinking that the current crop (well the last 7 series really) have been useless, nor does it stop me wishing they had ended it with Season 9
Duckman???

No it has'nt you do realise Conan only worked on 4 episodes between season 2-4?. I just checked that the last day actually!.
''From 1991 - 1993, O'Brien was a writer and producer for The Simpsons,[9] credited as writer or cowriter of four episodes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conan_o%27brien
Everything up to season 13-14 is top class, with quality getting better as you go back peaking at seasons 3-4, but with 13/14 been great in there own right!
I won't watch any ones after 14 though, they have that newer look and while good to watch are'nt funny at all tbh.
I actually just watched a few from season 19 in the past few days, got sick of watching seasons 2-14(must have watched each 2-3 times over the past year and a half)s, the first of which was ''the debarted'' i found this one to be a lot better then what's been served up the past few years so watched a couple of more which were ok.
The one about Marge in college, and Homer a rock star i watched a few weeks ago and tbh i'd agree it was utter garbage!!
They defo should have packed it in a few years ago though, was'nt any surprise the film was rubbish too, was 5 years too late IMO!.
Regardless of adult opinion i'd say most kids who would'nt get the jokes anyway still enjoy it, so i can see why it's still going!!

There's the right way, the wrong way.... and the Max Power way!! :-D
Did not realise this show was still on TV. Have not watched it for years & even repeats wearing thin after 20th viewing...
Greatest Show Ever...
There was one stage in the 90's where every other week seemed to offer up a classic.
That Episode with "Planet of the Apes - the Musical"- Genius.
Isn't "Jebus" a Simpsons reference Jebus?

One of the few to top that episode was where Homer finally lands on his feet and secures a great job in a modern, well maintained home in a great town.
He gets on great with his Boss (whose name escapes me, Dr Scorpio?), who is an affable, devil may care. sort of bloke. He's also a notorious International terrorist
Sample Quote:
Homer "I've decided I'm going to have to leave and go home"
Boss "Really going to miss you Homer. If you could kill someone on the way out, it would really be a help".![]()

I wonder does Matt G. have much control over it anymore i know when the writers strike was on Fox said it was going to go ahead and make episodes of family guy with out seth Mcfarlane maybe he isnt able to call a halt to the simpsons as fox owns it now ?
I dont really watch it anymore as ive seen all of them hundreds of times last time i saw a new episode on eline homer had was "it was my day to look after the baby so i was hiding in the forest "![]()
