I despise No.1 : Rugby by far, the people who have just recently started following it especially and followers in general, and the rubbish they talk about, passion my whole!!
Then tennis, F1, NFL, figure skating, not to mention the real minority sports......
San Marino are going to be a handful as the group goes on." - Steve Staunton reacts to performance against San Marino.
Speedway and NASCAR are two of the ones I'd see on TV regularly and wonder why they are popular. (I think I heard before that NASCAR is the richest sport in the world, or something like that, it was crazy whatever it was anyway) Semantically brilliant thread title for me though; I love to watch pretty much all sports (I even love watching the blades on a windmill chase each other) so it really is a case of picking the least favourites rather than the hated.
Generally, how do people characterise what they dislike in sports? Can't appreciate skill; no excitement/tension; no tactical nous exhibited; overly popular in general for enjoyment you get; genetics exclude too many potential players - maybe the case in basketball a bit; cultural background of sport, etc.? What else annoys people about certain sports? And are we talking about just to watch the sport, what it'd be like to play the sport, or the sport as a game/entity unto itself? They're just some of things I was thinking of there now.
Hmmm, well whatever way you want to look at it, it's pretty quixotic stuff.![]()
Ya my post did imply that a bit too much! No, I don't see the excitement in a few big lads, a lot on creo since they were 13, run into each other and fall to the ground, and people give out about footballers diving................. That's the main aim of rugby players.
And the boring long stoppages... I can't see why you would follow it (unless your on the bandwagon of course).
But some people would think this is a bit rich coming from someone who is a fan of horseracing, and i don't agree with that, so maybe I'm highly wrong, but its just my opinion!

I'm going to follow the advice offered earlier, and only watch the last 5 minutes of NBA games. Likewise, I'll only be watching the last frame of snooker matches, the last sets of tennis matches and only the finals of soccer knock-out competitions (can't we skip the whole tournament, and just go straight to the penalty shoot out?)
In fact, I think I'll just skip watching sports altogether and just look up the results in the paper.
I think Baseball is a a terrible sport to be honest. I think Gaelic Football is pretty bad but I think Hurling is one of the greatest sports in the world. Most enjoyable sporting occasion for me last year was the Cork Waterford game at Croke Park in the hurling. Great day and excitement.

Athletics, but running in particular.
What the **** is the point?
Skill? Look I can run!

I think there is too much pulling and dragging and stoppages in the game. The rules need to be tweaked as there is very little flow in the game at the moment. Also a lot of the skill seems to be gone out of the game in favour of blanket defence and there is very little guys like the Gooch in Kerry.

did you ever watch bowling on tele? it is the most boring thing to watch on tele ever, every shot they take they get a strike
i hate cricket aswel
Wrestling. It's rubbish and boring.
I detest rugby. It's such a nothing sport and I don't understand how people can get so worked up about it.
Near to them are cricket, tennis, basketball, horse racing and baseball/softball (what's the difference?).
