    Clive Clarke

Has this poor lad had to give up football for good?

I hope he made some money out of it before this.

Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

does that mean he wouldn't even be able play like a 5-a-side game or whatever?!

Lucky to be alive though, am sure he has now a very different perspective on life.

Im sure Sunderland were only happy to see the back of him after his unnecessary comments about Keane considering his position.

Hopefully he has made enough from the game to be secure.
Marge: Homer, the plant called. They said if you don't show up tomorrow don't bother showing up on Monday.
    Homer: Woo-hoo. Four-day weekend

A good point there beautifulrock. I was maybe a bit flippant there in retrospect. Best of luck to him for the future.

He should be wheeled in ( not meant as a pun ) before Irish qualifying matches ( especially away from home ) and let them know how much it means, and how quickly it can all change. Represeting your country should always be the biggest honour one can have/give.

Roy Keane's recent disgusting comments about Clarke got me to thinking.... were we deprived of a decent LB - or even CB - option in Clarkey?

I remember him being highly rated and linked to Liverpool early in his Stoke days... Didn't do well at West Ham and only got the Sunderland move due to Quinn. Don't think he would have played much for us even had he been fit and well

That was before the recession. Is that still the same I wonder?
