Pike remind me of Liverpool in a way .I have great respect for both clubs,who at the start of the season promise much ,excellent clubs with great teams and top new signings,top early season form.Team an supporters full of confidence.But some how with all the promise they show an talent they have it goes pear shaped for what ever reason.
I just cant figure them out..Ok they won the Mjc last year an more often or not are pushin for league honours each year and every few years do something to let us know that their still a heavy weight and credit to them but to go out they way they have,I should be surprised.But I'm not.
Pike should be the top side in limerick but the likes of Ballananty an Regional seem to be becoming the new powerhouses from the point of people lookin at Limerick football that are to be avoided at all cost in the open rounds of the Fai/Mjc.Is their a shift in power on the horizon.Junior football is fickle and players move on,thats a simple fact that will never change.
Players are easily read,if they join a club that has a habbit of chokin on big game day,they will join thinking that maybe they will be the ones to turn it round.This only last's for a while before the start to think is it worth it anymore.They get their game week in week out until their just goin through the paces and eventually decide to go.
Pike last year had an excellent side who were full of confidence ,both players an management.From the post that are up on both the Limerick thread an the Fai ,Mjc thread some of those players seem to be just going through the paces.I have no doubt that Pike will rise again to fight next year but it seems as if their is just somtin not right .Somthin's wrong and even I can see that from the outside lookin in.
Lads iv watched Balla on a good few occasions this season
and think they are not the best team in Limerick.
An in form Regional or Pike or even Annacotty and Wembley to an extent are better teams
on their day in my opinion. This opinion is formed on the basis of Balla
bringing these teams down to Bateman as they are better football playing
teams. Very lucky to get a draw at star and have been blessed in a few other games aswell where they were completely outplayed but the keeper
kept them in it. Thats just my opinion!
Fairview are a bit off the pace in fairness and lets be honest have just the league to concentrate on so they may come close.They lack something not sure exactly what it is...

Balla have no pace at the back and use their strength which mainly is
their pysical presence. Like Bolton under Big Sam. Hold an incredibly deep defensive line.

They are on a great unbeaten run but have won nothing yet and it is still my opinion that they are not the best team in Lmk thats all. They are effective and riding their luck at the moment with P.Hickey in superb form in goals. If he has a bad day they could be well beaten.. How he is not OT Keeper is beyond me?

Balla have been playing at LIT for a while now
Balla premier team only played two of their games in Bateman this year and they lost one to Carew Park in the first game of the season and beat Pike in the other league game there. All other home games have been played in LIT including munster junior against Pike which they also won so your statement about playing better football teams in bateman has no truth whatsoever.
They played Pike in Gale Force 4 winds in a half flooded LIT pitch whilst lashing rain...And the only reason they play in LIT is because there "fai money/grant" would be withdrawn if they used Bateman...Otherwise they'd be down in Bateman week in week out.
I was at the game also and both teams played on the same pitch and same conditions and Pike players even complimented after the game the condition of the pitch so it wasn't half flooded as you say.
Balla dont get any fai money / grants as you say cause you can only avail of them if you own the ground or have a long term lease which they have neither of. Pitch in LIT is owned by the college and bateman is only rented so your statement there is absolute s***te.
how in gods name can you inclube the pike game in lLIT everyone knows that game should never have been played and apart from the freak goal pike were streets ahead.

Bateman Park is an ABSOLUTE disgrace. Is there anyone involved with
Balla who can even begin to defend it? IMO they use it because they know
they are not as good as the other teams technically.
Surely this is a common consensus??
