Sasha Bara Cohen kinda exausted the whole 'cringe at my actions with the yanks' routine a few years back. Only people in this country would find the likes of him and killinascully funny. Anyway.............more info about our new boss and our future should be available after tonight.

I Think we are going to get ripped to shreds in the press with yet another name change and rightly so. Our credibility is hanging by a thred.

Any chance someone could elucidate a bit for those of us outlanders who are also a bit keen to see ye saved? Not the details promised after tonight, just a general synopsis like.

    Here you go:
From the Limerick Leader 21 Jan 2008

WHILE the identity of an Irish-American investor cannot be divulged at this point Limerick 37 are "hopeful" that the fledgling Eircom League club will be financially saved by a cash injection this week.
The club intends to hold a press conference this evening at which the struggling club hopes to unveil a "credible investor" who will take over and subsequently guarantee the immediate future of Limerick 37.
The Irish-American, who enjoys strong local links and is a self-made millionaire, flew into Dublin on Friday morning and initially met with representatives of the FAI before making the journey to Limerick.
On Friday afternoon he met with representatives of Limerick 37 and was a guest of the club at the Munster-Wasps Heineken Cup clash on Saturday evening; he was then introduced to the Limerick 37 Board of Directors on Sunday.
While the Irish-American arrived in the country, according to a representative of the club, with the "intention of investing" in Limerick 37 he was "taken aback" on Friday when presented with a financial picture of the club.
However it seems that the club's debts have not deterred his ambitious plans and barring catastrophe it looks as if Limerick 37 will be saved.
Although the Irish-American is not prepared to publicly declare his intentions until this evening it is understood that he has agreed "in principal" to become the club's majority shareholder and in effect take it over.
The Irish-American has decided to delay his final decision on whether he is prepared to get financially involved in the club until he has been given an opportunity to examine the proposals for a stadium in Cals Park which will be outlined by the Regeneration Board today.
Members of the Limerick 37 Board of Directors have described Sunday's meeting as "hugely encouraging" with the board agreeing "on behalf of the club for this new investor to take over" as a majority shareholder.
Initially this Irish-American hopes to give the club a financial "clean bill of health" and then appoint a CEO/General Manager to run the club.
The intention will be to get Limerick 37 into the Premier Division of the Eircom League as soon as possible, but it is unlikely that large amounts of cash will be injected into the club - Limerick 37 will be expected to perform like any other enterprise on this businessman's portfolio i.e. stand on its two feet.
It's likely that today's press conference's, hosted by the Limerick Regeneration Agency and which will feature President Mary McAleese and a number of sporting luminaries including FAI CEO John Delaney, could clinch the deal - the Regeneration Agency will outline exciting plans for improving sporting facilities in the city.
The Limerick Regeneration Agency hopes to transform t
he inner city 'into one of the most vibrant and most sustainable suburbs in the country' and is now prepared to unveil a number of initiatives which include the development of a stadium at Caledonian Park (Hyde Road) to cater for soccer and on the north side of the city the agency also hopes to develop another 'mini stadium' which has been earmarked to house rugby and Gaelic Games.
The document 'Our Community, Our Vision, Our Future' will be released and encompasses proposals which were endorsed by the Regeneration Board at a meeting held on January 7 last.
The Regeneration Board through its Board of Directors, Chief Executive and staff will drive the implementation of these proposals - the Master Planning consultants are expected to commence work on the project in late February with the aim of finalising a social, physical and economic master plan by June 30, 2008.

Whilst the takeover is probably inevitable the lack of funds worries me . On the basis of current budgets we wont have amanager or a team for next season. If this guy wants to invest he should at least help the club with enough money which would allow the signing of players and coaches which will get us out of this division..no money=no promotion QED.

John, Do you think this name change is a definite? If so why do Limerick have to change their name again as the club has not folded?

Who cares what they call the club as long as we have senior League of Ireland football in the area (with Limerick somewhere in the title).

    Angry

I just think it is another way of screwing our supporters in order to get them to buy new shirts, scarfs, tracksuits etc etc.. Easy Money but very cynical IMHO.

This guy is a businessman at the end of the day and as the "Press release" says sees Limerick (insert your name here) FC as a "Business Venture" like any other. Proceed with caution I'd say He could be gone like all other saviours in a year.

As far as I'm concerned he should consult with the Supporters before changing our name. I'm led to believe the the SC were at this meeting yesterday if so they should hold a members' meeting to discuss this takeover and possible name change.

Re: the name change. Limerick FC I thought was worth fighting for, Limerick 37 has only been around a year, and if we have the possibility of reverting back to Limerick FC (if Danny will sell the rights) then we should take it I think

Ya I would be very happy if they changed the name back to Limerick FC, but anything else would just make Limerick a laughing stock to be honest. Does anybody actually know who this guy is? (not asking for names but what business is he in and is a football man or just looking at this from a business point of view)

I think it's more of a local ties nostalgia trip for him to be honest, I mean what money is there to be made in the Eircom First Division after all

First I've heard of a name change, who's looking for the name change? I doubt it, it's not allowed anymore under the new licensing laws.
