Garry Breen, Karl Moore, and Paul Marshall all started for Man City's reserve side, with Michael Daly, and Donal McDermott on the bench, in their 4-2 win over Wigan's reserves. Marshall scored a hat trick on the night, according to Man City's report he was playing up front, normally he's a midfielder.

Duff was set to play against Man Utd reserves tonight but the game was called off due to bad weather.

From some blog called soccerlensWigan’s new manager Steve Bruce is hoping to sign a new striker in January and his priorities at the moment are linked to Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink at Celtic and Wolves’ Andy Keogh. Wolves signed Keogh in January this year for £600,000 from Scunthorpe. Celtic meanwhile brought Dutchman Vennegoor of Hesselink in 2006 for a deal worth around £3.4m. He has impressed since playing in the SPL though and Celtic will surely not want to let him go.

truth be told, watching Leicester for the past seasons has become so mind numbingly boring and basically pretty unenjoyable, I come away from there not really having any great urge to relive what ive paid good hard earned to watch.
basically, Sheehans got a great left foot on him and the air of slight arrogance of a guy who knows he is decent, he is comfortable out there in front of 20+ thousand, and when I went to stamford bridge a few weeks back for the cup match the bigger stage didnt faze him at all. he was directly in front of me for one set piece about 30 yards from where I was standing, and as he stood over it, and claimed it from his teammates, he was very assured looking and delivered a quality ball which his striker couldnt miss from. can play anywhere on the left.
all this may not yet be enough, and he can at times be sloppy high up the field, a touch over ambitious in the passing at times but it doesnt seem to affect his game if he gets a couple wrong.he also has taken a couple of rollickings from the CBs at times for various pieces of positioning or percieved lack of tracking back, but not often.
for example he could have comfortably made an angle for his CB last sat for a basic 10 yard ball, but he chose not to, his teammate conceded a throw as he had dwelt on it and leicester conceded from the setpiece. not all Sheehans fault, as the CB should have launched it earlier and leicesters defending was very poor thereafter, but if he had showed for it, it might all have been avoided.
over all, he is doing fine though, at least he is in the mix after being a forgotten man for all last season.
you seen much of him? leicester have been on sky a bit lately, watched any of those games?

I hear Doyle scored a glancing header tonight against Liverpool. That's five I think so far in this year's Premiership, and as far as I can recall, all five have been headers. Some feat for a guy who's not big by modern forwards' standards. I've said it loads of times here but in this respect he's very like Larsson - similar physique, both excellent headers and both with excellent timing in the jump. His headed flick on last week made a goal for Kitson.

Sheehan and Hayes were on the bench for this one, Sheehan lost the spot to Mattock, his England u21 equivalent, as the manager went 4-3-3, he may have opted for a more defensive player in the back 4, or he may just be having a look at all his new charges, or as some suggest the England u21 guy is for sale at the right price and the club were giving him exposure, as he has been atracting interest, most notably from rangers.
hard to know what the story is but what is for certain, Sheehans replacement lost his man for the opener and didnt cover himself in glory in open play and leicesters vital set piece threat was notable by its abscence without Sheehans delivery.
Hayes got an outing with 30 to play and announced himself by chasing a CB and closing him down with a determined run accross the edge of the pen area, the CB saw him coming and checked away but the determination of Hayes play went down well in the ground, after that he was involved in the game but didnt exert any great influence on it bar one run past 2 defenders, when he was hacked down on the edge of the area. he didnt give it away much (or at all, that i can recall), but was forced to check and play it back generally.
will be interesting to see if one or both of them make the 11 tonight away at ipswich.
