It amazes me that people are amazed by Wikipedia entries, anyone can go in and edit stuff so its like a glorified forum really.

I worte this in another thread buit it wouldn't surprise me if there are some students out there quoting stuff from wikipedia in their final year reports.
90% of the stuff is sound but you need to be careful.

    1. I know of one in my course.

    2. You can rely on Wikipedia most of the time...but maybe not for official science-y projects and theses.

I was teaching a course last year and, in the final class asked people if they'd any questions regarding their end of term essays - the first question was 'what is the correct way to cite wiki sources?' when I suggested that such a source, by itself wasn't enough, I got a pitying look

This is in danger of turning into one of those 'Kids today, eh?' threads; (I know, I started it) maybe we should have a special section where us old geezers can grumble about declining standards, and lack of respect and so on..

What a load of rubbish. Brian Kerr (they didn't sack him), Roy Keane (FAI didn't send him home), appoint a Cork manager (so we know where the writer is from) and the sectarian stuff at the end and people think it's hilarious

    Easily amused.
