Well im hoping for 3 points tonight in Waterford to put the league virtualy to bed, 1 point in Cork wasnt great but losing in Waterford follwed by our 4th cup final loss of the year on Friday would make things a little to interesting with all the European matches coming thick and fast.
A win tonight and we are nearly there
Big match tonight between Drogs and Shels the loser falls a bit adrift of Europe places

Nothing less than 3 points will do for us tonight, anything less and it’s curtains, considering we still have to go to Cobh and Dundalk it’s all still a long shot anyway….

Sligo go ahead in Galway and drop Galway into the playoffs.

If Galway lose, it'd be a run of 3 points in 11 games. Is that the Ollie Horgan impact? Certainly it gives the First Division side something to play for. You can't take that sort of form into a playoff and be confident of staying up

The loss of Horgan has to have had an impact emotionally and imo very much tactically. Whats impressive is the way that the Sligo board havent blinked on their coaching staff, they've flirted with relegation for 2 seasons and the vast majority if not all would have changed manager, supporters have satyed on board too. Its not done and dusted that theyre out of harm, but its more likely that Galways will have to chase Waterford on run in form.

Harps season over anyway. Another pathetic second half performance and yet again dropped points from a winning position. Must be 10 or 12 points dropped from winning positions this year.

Three free headers from corners is criminal defending.

About the best you can say about the game in Athlone is that Foley saved a retaken penalty twice, kept a clean sheet, and Kerry are guaranteed to finish ninth at worst, but the league is very much petering out into a damp squib, and looking much less likely to keep up with Longford now.

Longford probably will finish 8th at least. They've been picking up good points in recent weeks.

A DVD won't save United this season I fear. Our form is in the toilet since Dyer got sent off in his last game for us. No league wins since.
While it seems unlikely Cork will catch us, an in-form First Division play off winner could beat us in the Playoff.

Huge win for us tonight. Assume first time out of the bottom 2 all season I’d imagine.

6 goals conceded this weekend...2 penos, 1 free kick, 1 header from a free kick, 2 headers from corners. Absolute joke. Season over again well before the final ball is kicked.

As comfortable a win as you will see. At the start of the second half Cork attempted to get into the game but our third goal put the game to bed. We played some nice stuff at times. Can only hope that they are in similar form for the cup semi final.

Been a couple of years since Pats have had a game as handy as tonight. Cork were a joke at the back, Redmond and Grivosti won countless headers from corners with ease. That Cork backline had absolutely no leadership or desire about them. Couto's first start since coming back from injury I think and he got roasted down the line by Simon Power tonight

Yeah Dyer was a monumental loss. Saw a stat the other day saying that aside from Dyer and Cian Byrne (who are both no longer at the club), no Galway United player has scored a league goal since February that didn’t come from the penalty spot. A fairly staggering stat

A stát which sounds like it should be true, but isn't.

Jimmy Keohane v Derry in August
Stephen Walsh and McGuinness v Waterford in July.
Bobby Burns v Shelbourne in June.

But yes Cian Byrne was immense for us and is missed almost as much as Dyer.

Its hard to credit we have lost 3 times to bohs and they are ten points behind in second. Thats a 22 points swing in the other matches. Be almost funny if we lost again of friday.

There’s not much to cheer about at a lot of them in fairness!
