Colm Cox the latest to leave Wexford. Would love to be a fly on the wall there.

Goalkeeper Rory Kelly played for Harps vs Killbarrack in the cup last night, his name appearing on the team sheet seemed to be the first notification most Harps fans got that he had signed. No idea how long he has been signed for. Kelly was on the books at Harps before in 2012 & 2013 but only played a handful of games.

A goalkeeper has come in and pushed Cox down to third place, I don't think his departure is that deep.

Does Ian Ryan give anyone else Neale Fenn vibes, a lot of good press without that much substance. And like Fenn in his latter days at Longford he is going through a lot of players because they are the problem for the underachievement instead of him not coaching up what he has

Ola Adeyemo, brother ofJordan and a well travelled journeyman striker that doesn't seem to score many goals, signs for LTFC.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

He comes in from Newry Town AFC.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Incidentally, Guthrie came on for Stacks yesterday in their relegation play-off derby, so his "injury" has miraculously resolved itself!

Yes both hyped some similarities but not exact same circumstances Fenn inherited a team at Longford in a better position with a bigger budget and further up the table than Ryan at the basement with Wexford. There was more irrational hype with Ryan that went up a bizarre level following that FAI Cup win over an average Sligo and as Wexford never looked breaching the top half of the table, then he nearly landed the Bohs job we'll never know how it would have worked out

You could see with Fenn Longford played some good football that could have had promotion potential but they were plagued with inconsistent results as they never look streetwise to avoid too many defeats. Daire Doyle then takes over despite losing some quality players gets them streetwise and promoted via the play-offs

Bray still have a Cabinteely stink off them this season, struggling for wins and no consistent starting XI with a turnover of players already, it may look good for Ryan or any manager that about 10 players follow them over from their former club but if they don't do the business and some of them are gone by mid-season it doesn't look great for the manager. I still think Bray need to give Ryan time to get that Bray team on the right track as it was not far off a new squad assembled with alot of youth alongside proven veterans like Massey, Webster, Lyons

Fenn had no budget when it came to signings to push for a play off position.

Jaze Kabia follows his dad Jason in playing for Cork City. His dad was part of Cork Citys FAI cup winning side in 1998 that beat Shels.

His dad scored two goals in the 1998 semi final away to Athlone, so he was a big part. Also, Jaze started out playing underage for City so its a bit of a return.

I imagine it was much the same as Daire Doyle had. Neither would have had a big budget.

Exactly. Ask anyone involved with de town in those few seasons, they'll tell you the difference in 2020 was Johnny Martin coming in, a total genius

Fenn got no money in mid season and the promotion whilst it was great had a bit to do with the times we were in.
Premier division displays were with few exceptions awful. Park the bus stuff.
Longford have a lovely set up with a large hinterland that has no opposition in it. Its easy to say but the net has to be spread much wider. With all due respect to the county team and the rugby club they are not setting the world on fire.
i suppose it all boils down to the old saying "how do you make a small fortune? Invest a large one into a League of Ireland club."
To be fair a lot of clubs with more money and support could learn from Longford in terms of facilities.

Can I laugh at this one? How big a budget do you need to aspire for a playoff spot in the Irish First Division?

The original point was 2 fold, one the media hype (when Tim Clancy was doing a much better job with a similar budget) & the heavy turnover of players similar to Ryan this year. Fenn did well year 1 as did Ryan at Wexford given their low level, but halfway through their second season but sides signed & released plenty when the squad should have been fairly settled after 18months.

Obviously it across 2 clubs but Ian Ryan is basically in hos second season with a group of players given how many he signed for Wexford & then took with him
