I think it was something to do with the construction of the new stand,stand to be corrected on that though�

Yeah it was to do with the work being done. Derry game is close to being sold out now.

The article is incorrect, the delay was due to work being done in the existing main stand itself and the dressing rooms / area.
The new stand has a finish date of July /August so id imagine that maybe it might be opened for a European fixtue assuming we dont get knocked out in the first round.
Based on our first two matches who knows

Seems like there'll be more Bohs fans in Tolka than Shels this week. I'm sure the whole thing will run as smoothly as possible.

Not a great reflection on the Shels support that so many home tickets are even available for another club to buy up like this.

I see Dundalk have pulled sales of ground tickets online due to security concerns , obviously a fear of a run on them by Pat's fans similar to Bohs fans for Tolka

It'd be an interesting one if they truly enforced this line of any away fans in the home end will be refused entry. Outside of people blatantly wearing colours that'd surely be a tricky one, you can hardly turn someone away because you're suspicious of their accent or whatever else the reason would be.

Yeah tough one to police ok but eventually if significant numbers of away fans end up in the home end at games there's sure to be trouble, all it takes is a handful of eejits .

Can only stop people for Pats colours after that it would be sticky for them. It�s another conundrum for clubs to face in the era of growing crowds. Hard to believe that 500 tickets isn�t enough for us in Oriel.

I don�t blame people for buying tickets but fans are going to have to get used to there being a finite number of tickets with the increase in popularity,it�s pretty standard for half empty stadiums with packed away ends across the water,it�s probably going to be the same here�.

Very hard for all clubs to police.If someone wants to see their team and there is a way they will find it. The only way they could possibly be refused entry is if they are wearing away colours or anything else that�s breaches a clubs T&C�s like being drunk etc . You cant have security say you sound like you�re from Dublin or whatever the case may be.

In one way it's a great sign but in another way it's a shame that people can't go to see games and clubs are losing out on badly needed revenue , and any improvement in stadiums in most cases is still a good bit away.

This. It's great that demand for the league is up - but not great that clubs can't capitalise on it. Also - every fan who can't get a ticket they want to a game is a potential long-term fan lost to that club. People will find something else to do that night instead, and a lot of people will just not try to get to games in future if they believe it's too difficult. It's stunting the growth and income of Irish club football. Not just now, but potentially for years to come.

For the ground in Oriel, home ends, it must be 20+ years since I saw away fans in those areas, any Pats fans intending going to home area are hardly all going to stand apart in isolated groups, so would imagine they will stand out and will be asked to leave if they have managed to get tickets and get in, but again probably only so many sold and imagine they will be cancelled.
