Longford v Cobh on LOITV looks about 2/350 at an estimate, most are in the stand, anyone else with a guess of the attendance!

844 for Longford v Cobh. Good to see a steady start to crowds in Longford. A decent ground that deserves bigger crowds.

The location is a problem there. If that was in the town the sky would be the limit for them.

Best thing about the attendances increases is that they seem to be across the board. Even the smaller clubs are getting crowds which are what - maybe twice what the might have been before covid?

Yeah exactly, in general the core support of each club looks to have almost doubled from 2020.

The sell outs in the PD are obviously cool to see but I'd argue it's the first division not anymore being referred to as 'the graveyard' which is the most important development in recent years.

If the majority of FD clubs can average close to 4 figures attendances then we have a healthy-ish base to feed into what will hopefully soon be a completely professional top tier.

2nd to 5th qualifying for the playoffs is the significant development. There has been a reluctance in the Premier Division to take on a playoff for the final European spot.

And 4 of that 844 were from Cobh?

We should all extend our thanks to the FAI for creating the atmosphere in which this could happen.

A word of caution on FD crowds. If Galway and Waterford go up, and UCD (please God) and Drogheda go down, the PD crowds wil be box office but the FD average will almost certainly be back in 3 figures. Crowds in the First have been great recently, but it's hard to see many beyond Galway and Waterford drawing solid 4-figure crowds on a regular basis.

Apologies - I should have added Harps to the list of current FD clubs who can get 4 figures regularly enough (view it as a compliment, as I still think of you as a PD club )

There are few others - if any - beyond them, Waterford and Galway.

Kerry are getting good crowds now, but it's too early to tell if that will sustain. Bray could get 4-figures on occasion, but if they're not doing well then they probably wouldn't have it consistently. Ditto Treaty. So the FD average next year will come down to who goes up and who goes down (even if that is a fairly obvious point). With one of Galway or Waterford more than likely to go up - possibly both - and I would argue UCD favourites to go down - then there's a very good chance that the FD crowds in 2024 will be quite a bit down on where they end up this year. Perhaps the only thing that would stop that would be Cork getting relegated.

I'm no good at judging the size of crowds, but I'd say there's about seventeen million of them out there.

Kerry v Treaty recorded as 1,278, so a "slippage" of 16 from the first game!

I can’t see how we’re down nearly 1000 on the Galway game. A few hundred maybe.
