I agree with Tricky in general, a slight push is often enough to send a guy running at speed down and I'm often quite charitable in giving the benefit of the doubt, but I did think it was a dive at the time. I'll take a look again when I get time and I'd like to see if there was a slight ankle tap a few strides back too.

    The goal was brilliant.

The arm came across but that wasn't enough, I think he was tripped, his right calf took a hefty enough kick.
Those tv angles are not conclusive either way.

Can be hard to tell at times even when you have many angles, as you say if you are finely balanced a very light push can send you tumbling.
Makes it very hard for the ref, even with video technology you can't easily see how finely balanced a player is.
So sometimes the refs decision is a better guide, you have to judge balance at speed, you can't see it in slow-mo really.

Nut anyhow you have to credit Arter for making that run and getting in the box, you have to make you own luck sometimes.

    Confirmed in the final squad

    http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/irish...ad-for-poland/
Martin O’Neill has confirmed his 29-man squad for next Sunday’s EURO 2016 qualifier against Poland at the Aviva Stadium.
Having named a provisional 35-man squad last week, O’Neill reduced the numbers by six as the squad assembled in Dublin this evening.
Harry Arter, named for the first time in the provisional squad, kept his place in the revised line-up following a fine performance at the weekend as he led Bournemouth back to the top of the English Championship with a fine 25-yard strike in their 3-0 win over title contenders Middlesbrough.
David McGoldrick, Anthony Pilkington and Jeff Hendrick all miss out through injury, while Rob Elliot, Paul Green and Simon Cox were the others dropped from the initial squad.
Ireland squad: David Forde (Millwall FC), Shay Given (Aston Villa FC), Keiren Westwood (Sheffield Wednesday FC), Darren Randolph (Birmingham City FC), Richard Keogh (Derby County FC), Marc Wilson (Stoke City FC), Seamus Coleman (Everton FC), Cyrus Christie (Derby County FC), John O’Shea (Sunderland AFC), Alex Pearce (Reading FC), Paul McShane (Hull City FC), James McCarthy (Everton FC), Ciaran Clark (Aston Villa FC), Stephen Ward (Burnley FC), Harry Arter (AFC Bournemouth), Glenn Whelan (Stoke City FC), Darron Gibson (Everton FC), Aiden McGeady (Everton FC), James McClean (Wigan Athletic FC), Robbie Brady (Hull City FC), Stephen Quinn (Hull City FC), David Meyler (Hull City FC), Robbie Keane (LA Galaxy), Shane Long (Southampton FC), Daryl Murphy (Ipswich Town FC), Jon Walters (Stoke City FC), Kevin Doyle (Wolverhampton Wanderers FC), Anthony Stokes (Celtic FC), Wes Hoolahan (Norwich City).

    Lovely goal.

Looked like he took a fall for the later penalty, however. I've only seen the fairly poor-quality video up-thread, but, from that, I don't think there was a trip to take him down; I don't think there's any contact at all between Arter and Adomah. Nor do I see any push; certainly not one forceful enough to cause him to fall or to fall the way he did. Leadbitter had his hand on him before the fall commenced. Arter began to fall two steps after Leadbitter withdrew his arm. I'm not even sure you could consider the arm to have been pushing.

Paul Green may be a bit disappointed to be dropped having not really put a foot wrong under MONKeano. I think I remember him being man of the match V Poland in an early friendly.
Obviously club form is what they're going on but, then again, McAteer scored v Holland when he couldn't buy a game at Blackburn.

And, of course, obviously there are plenty of players ahead of him in the pecking order in that position but...still. He hasn't done much wrong
Folding my way into the big money!!!

I was just thinking after viewing some of Arter's Goals that he is bit like Robbie Keane?

Is that a reasonable to think, the thought never occur to me until recently.

It is a bit of a lazy thought I guess but I just thought I'd mention it.

He came forward politely to the edge of the box. He eyed up a ball hoisted before him and with one thunderous swing of that increasingly frightening left boot, he hammered one crashing off the back of the net. Randolph lying looking up at it thinking, ‘What the f***’.

    Harry Arter had arrived.

Arter nearly scored another cracker today, just seen it on the highlights, hammered it from outside the area.
Keeper got a hand to it though.
