Anyone see his sliding intervention last night, facing his own goal and sliding back to get a slight touch to a low cross, guiding the ball out for a corner and taking it off the Burnley striker's (Boyd) toes to prevent a certain goal? Any bigger a touch and it was OG number 12 or whatever number it would have been. Quality.
A real pity he couldn't have stayed on for this campiagn but with his injury problems and age totally understandable. He would have been a huge help for players like Clarke, Wilson and Pearce.

Ah, come on. He goes on about how nobody else in the Championship would give Dunne a chance because he had played no games for Villa. I'd be shocked if nobody else showed interest in Dunne, aside from Harry Houdini. Prior to praising Dunne, he had to make this point to hand himself some credit.
Dunne was more than capable for Championship level and didn't represent a gamble. Harry has gone onto invest in more centre-halves on their return to the PL but Dunne has been a mainstay; Dunne's doing, not Harry Redknapp's.
What about when the tripe he spouted about Bale, whilst clubs come forward since stating that Harry was mad to offload him to them (Hamburg and Nottingham Forrest were two, off the top of my head).
He realised Bale's talent by pure luck but I'd give him a bit of credit for Dunne, who was in limbo a little bit. I would give him zero credit for patting his own back though, although I do find it amusing.

I think he is probably right about nobody else giving him a chance, I don't think there was
any Premiership clubs interested in him, I expect they were after more exotic sound names.
I think Dunne pretty much say in the post above "I was fortunate Harry Redknapp took me on last year".
I don't begrudge Harry patting his own back, it's mildly amusing if anything, but it is really
a statement of fact, I think he is just making the point of how well Dunne has, to go from
being unwanted to being one of the best centre sin the league, so he was really
patting Dunne's back but accidentally patted his own too
I find Harry quite likeable, he is pretty down to earth, given how well he has done
with Dunne I'd be happy for him to take a few more Irish in.
I think the main reason is he gets a lot of blocks in, he is regularly in the top 5 for the
number of blocks he makes. I looked back in the stats for about 5-6 years and he was
in the top 5 or so 3 times, he was not in the Premiership every one of those years.
So it you are making a lot of blocks the odd one will end up any own goal, so in a way it
is a measure of how good he is at his job.
By the way he is currently the 9th best player in the Premiership

Just been comparing him to Michael Dawson over the last5-6 years, he has no own goals
Richard 4, one difference that stands out is Richard makes more tackles per game 2.3 v 1.6
Also more blocks 1.5 v 1.1
Anyhow over the period both played about 145 games.
So that works out at about 159 217.5 block shots respectively.
Now assume a striker takes 5 shots per goal (bit of a guess)
then Dawson stopped 31.8 goals and Dunne blocked 43.5 goals
If we take off Dunne's 4 own goals then we get net figures of Dawson 31.8 v Dunne's 39.5 (net goals prevented) so even though Dunne scored more
own goals he was more effective as a defender overall as the own goal's are negated by the extra goals he prevents.
It's a good thing tricky doesn't believe in statistics or he could get really wrapped up in all this stuff.
Funny you should mention that, just been watching MOTD, though Dunne might have been at fault for one of the goals
but I had not started recording yet so I have not seen a replay (but it is my other recorder so I will later).
He nearly scored a goal with a header which hit the cross and bounced back into play and was then put in the back of
the net for the second? goal.
Anyway I just happened to glance at his stats.
He got 8.18 for todays game which is high, the 9.19 v Burnley even higher, you
don't see may scores of 9 and above, although I see Aguero got a 9.77

He allowed himself to get turned easily for the first goal, and got undone by a simple one-two. It depends on your point of focus: it was a very good attacking goal but if you're analysing it purely from Dunne's point of view he might have done better by getting tighter for the first bit of the move. He was vulnerable from that point on. I think you can always point the finger at defenders for any goal though.
The look of joy on his face when Austin equalised after Dunne had hit the bar was priceless. He's having a very decent swan song and he looks like he's enjoying it. Fair play to him.
3-0 loss to Sheffield United - better get Dunne back in the centre of that defense!
