It seems Gibson will be available to play on Stephen's day because it falls before the appeal date.

If the pundits say it was a yellow then it must have been worth a red!

I think Cole was harder done by to be honest. A red card for Gibson wasn't necessarily wrong in its own right but having sent Cole off he had to sent Gibson off too. I think the ref was entitled to give it. too many people demand too much from referees. They call it as they see it in real time. The Allardyce response of the game having too much at stake, especially financially, to leave the refs unassisted by technology is getting the logic all twisted in my opinion. A game that relies so much on a referee's opinion but which can often prove contentious probably shouldn't have so much money depending on the outcomes.

I mistakingly thought Gibson was the only one, red carded.

The pundits usually rattle on about 'only going for the ball' and 'had no intent to injure'. That goes out the window once contact has been made. Gibson was dangerous and the contact was made with studs first, flattening the West Ham player.

You're demanding quite a lot of the modern pundit if you think he'll possess knowledge of the rule-book.

Of the two, Gibson has the cleaner hit and he manages to get that bit extra into the stamp just on contact.

    This is my number I
hits all the buttons - cowardly, vicious, blatant and the cxnt got away with it.

I remember that. That was within a few-week period when Shearer had also thrown a couple of deliberate elbows in players' faces. The amateur psychologist in me wants to speculate he was having some personal problems just then.

Taken off at half time against Wigan. Poor performance or an injury?

Pulled up just before half-time after striking a free kick with a thigh injury. Not sure if it's a recurrence or if it's the other leg this time.

He's not quite in the Keith O'Neill glass legs category, but he can't be that far off it.

He seems to pick up a lot of muscle injuries, presumably from all that harrying he does.

Yes, it appears Darron pulled the other one.

The damage to Darron could have been done by his abnormal high jinks in the previous game.

Basically it's okay to accidentally attempt to decapitate a player with your studs up in a dangerous but 'honest' attempt to make contact with the ball, a real near death experience, but it's not okay to try the studs up attempt to win the ball closer to the ground, where you might (at worse) break someones leg.
Christ, what a thug, he could have broken his leg there!! as opposed to 'ah ref, he was only going for the ball when he could've ..... killed him'.

Gibson will be out of action for another month due to the thigh injury he picked up against Wigan: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footba...darron-1512546

Darron Gibson has been ruled out for a month through injury in a blow to Everton's Champions League hopes.

A scan has revealed Gibson strained his thigh during the Boxing Day win over Wigan and that he will be out for most of January.

Everton boss David Moyes said: "We think that maybe he will be out for a month with a thigh strain."
I also came across this from the 15th of December, which I don't think has been posted: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...327874307.html

Gibson is rather more straightforward in terms of what he might bring to the party should he return, but his form for Everton when fit this season has served as a reminder that the 25-year-old is starting to fulfill his potential.

“When I spoke to him last he was injured,” said Trapattoni, who had, like many others, believed the Northerner was willing to put his Euro2012 “disappointment” behind him a few weeks back.

“It certainly seems he is not ready to come back at the moment,” the 73-year-old acknowledged.

“I have been in contact with him, just to wish him a happy Christmas, and we will continue to follow him. I intend to go and see him at some matches and hopefully to establish some contact with him, to establish his position regarding his readiness and in his own head what his feelings are.”

While Gibson looks likely to miss February’s friendly against Poland, as well as the following month’s qualifiers against Sweden and Austria by choice, Sean St Ledger and Richard Dunne look increasingly unlikely to be in position to re-establish their central defensive partnership for the games, with both struggling to get over injuries.

Gibson back for Everton today. They're losing 2-1 to Villa at the minute though.

    Shane Duffy on the bench.

Heitinga is a liabilty for Everton these days. At fault for both goals today. Duffy should be ahead of him in the pecking order shortly or there is something very wrong. Gibbo steady as usual and Everton are very dominant but what can you do with a defender who keeps giving the opposition goals.

Missed Villa's 3rd but apparently Heitinga was at fault again so a hat-trick for him. At least Heitinga was taken off. Maybe Moyes will finally realise what everyone else did about 2 months ago and not continue to play this liability. Duffy should be the back-up CB.

Yeah, so ok game for Gibbo. Subbed in injury time when score was 2-3. Good to see him back hopefully he can step it up over the next few games.

Spotted purchasing a pair of 'Batman' underpants in a Liverpool shopping center a short time ago.

He's on the slippery slope is our Gibbo.
