I was looking at the draw, there will be 29 teams in round 2. The top divisions come in at the 3rd stage - 10 from Roscommon, 10 from Galway, 8 from Mayo and 11 from Sligo(Carbury have folded)

It looks as though the 2nd round might have a load of byes in it if there are to be 64 teams in the 3rd round. It would be something like 4 2nd round games and 21 byes = 25 + 11 + 10 + 10 + 8 = 64 teams

have I too much time on my hands???

interesting alright to see how it pans out. what happened Carbury? and where did there players head.

Carbury didn't have the numbers this time around as a lot of them went to the Astro league instead. I think 3 of them went to City United afaik. Not the best start for City this year but they've got Lee Marshall and Christopher Kelly back now so should come strong in coming weeks.

nothing yet, but I'd say it'll be soon, according to a schedule Joe posted earlier the 2nd is due to be played 27th/28th Oct, but that could be moved a week earlier like they did with the 1st round draw

Are there full fixtures out for the Oscar Traynor yet? you would imagine the draw would be done for the Connacht Cup..keeping us in suspense.

We have not had the FAI 1st round and only 6 or 7 Connaught Cup 1st round matches,the league here was finished last weekend except 3 play-off matches,this weekend is the Mayo league cup and shield finals,but with our league campaign finished we should not take long catching up.

something odd happening, I was looking at the Galway FA website and they have some Connacht Cup games down for the 28th October, some of these games are outstanding 1st round games that were postponed because of the All-Ireland finals, but the Barna v Strokestown and the Galway Bohs v Tuam Celtic cant be 1st round games as Strokestown beat Real Tubber in the first round, Tuam Celtic beat Dromore Villa and Barna beat Coolaney.

The draw must've been made for the 2nd round

Ya was thinking the same thing, Bohs and ourselves (Tuam celtic ) won our opening games.. so it must be a combination of a few 2nd round ties and any outstanding ist round.. Im sure Mr Friel could clarify this for any clubs!

given that there are 3 2nd round ties announced, Barna v Strokestown, Galway Bohs v Tuam Celtic, Arrow Harps v Gurteen......and if the above guess of how to end up at 64 teams for the 3rd round is correct....anyone know the other 2nd round tie??????????

Presume they are going to be on Nov 11th at the earliest?

Boyle along with City -v- Carton play in FAI Junior on Nov 4th so this is taking priority.

from what I can gather this is the state of affairs with hte Connacht Cup so far: 6 outstanding 1st round ties:
Glenhest Rovers v Aclare Celtic
Killala v Maree/Oranmore
Kiltimagh/Knock Utd v MCR
Achill Rovers v Merville
Easkey v Snugboro
St Pats v Glenview

one 2nd round tie:

Killala V Maree/Oranmore is fixed for this Sunday at 2pm, there is no word of the other 1st round ties involving Mayo teams when they will be played.

The whole thing is a bit of a mess, 2 teams are into the 3rd round already, and there are 6 outstanding 1st round ties???? nobody seems to know what the 2nd round draw contains.
