It looks as though the 2nd round might have a load of byes in it if there are to be 64 teams in the 3rd round. It would be something like 4 2nd round games and 21 byes = 25 + 11 + 10 + 10 + 8 = 64 teams

have I too much time on my hands???
I think this could be the case:

    two 2nd round results:
    Barna w/o v scr Strokestown
    Galway Bohs 5 - 3 Tuam Celtic

    and

    Arrow Harps v Gurteen
    Crumlin v Ballygawley

would seem to be the 2nd round ties, there could be 21 byes to round 3.....but I could be wrong

Looks like they included Carbury in the draw. (Have they folded?)
    Meaning 3rd Round is made up of 5 2nd round games and 19 byes = 24 + 12 + 10 + 10 + 8 = 64 teams

The 5th 2nd Round game appears to be
    Cliffoney v Medtronic

yeah Joe, Carbury are gone so Yeats effectively have a bye to the 4th round.....Boyle v Skyvalley and Ballina Town v Mervue look like the pick of the ties. The full draw is usually released when the 3rd round is done, or have I got that wrong??

Any chance of Ballisodare upsetting Castlebar?
How do ye fancy ye're chances against Crumlin? What are they like?

Was looking at the Mayo Super League table, Castlebar finished 2nd - 12pts behind Westport, and played their last league game over a month ago, the 3rd round is fixed for the 19/20th Jan 2013, so Castlebar may not be very match fit & sharp by then, and home advantage to Ballisodare, I'd give them a good chance of upsetting Castlebar.......Ballisodare will have a tough ask this weekend away to Ballinasloe in the FAI

Crumlin are mid table in Div 1 in Galway, although they are only 2pts off the top, it looks like a tight league, we are very hit and miss, much more miss than hit, but if we can get a decent squad to travel we might have a chance

Well best of look, hopefully ye will be hit on sunday.

Ya, we have a tough game Sunday, should be a good test for us against quality opposition, we got hockeyed 5-1 down there a few years ago. Hopefully will be competitive this weekend

we beat Ballinsloe down there a few years back on pens, with 9 men....our reward was to get an 8-0 hammering by Pike Rovers in the next round. If ye win ye avoid City and Boyle, but are away to Roscommon, ye could have a very interesting month or two in the cups ahead

Wow, that was some result, i'm sure that was a memorable trip. Them days the reason we get out of bed on a sunday morning. Hopefully we can produce a performance like that.
Would be great to get a run in the cups, but staying as high up the league will be our priority, we've a young side and have been very inconsistent so far

Castlebar Celtic will more than likely will be progressing into the open draw fo the FAI junior cup, weplayed them in the junior a couple 2 weeks ago and knowing them they will be looking to go along way. They have anear full sixe Asto-turf pitch,2 teams they will be hard team to beat. Westport will be very hard beat again, ran away with the superleague in Mayo this year.

    Connaught Shield Round 1
    Moy Villa v Ahascragh
    Urlar v Claregalway
    Newport v Clew Bay
    Killala or Oranmore v Mulranny
    Glenview v Ballyglass
    Fohenagh v Kiltullagh
    Partry v Easkey or Snugboro

I see win or draw on Sunday we are athomeCorrib Celticin the cup or our great rivalaries Mullranny in the shiel,we just pipped them in avoiding the drop this season.
