Arrah, fcuk it, play it in Santry and give the Sporting Fingal fans a chance to see it.
does no one remember how annoyed Glentoran were in 2008? Setanta will play the final where suits them, and no one else.

You're the one that claimed precedence was in ye're favour a such.As pointed out above the teams did not agree. I'm simply pointing out it isn't and that the SSC have never been bother about being fair. why would they suddenly start now because it's Dundalk complaining? Glentoran had to travel the length of the country and no one cared, they won't care about ye're complaints either.
It may not be right but basically it's their competition and they can do what they want. It's not the first time it' happened, and no one backed Glentoran when they were complaining. As usual people only complain when it affects their team.

So the Dundalk fans on this thread who claimed the venues of previous finals were either decided before the finalists became known or by a toss of a coin were talking bóllocks then. Glad we cleared that up.
Bottom line is, Oriel, Dalymount, Tolka, Richmond are old run down grounds that shouldn't be hosting a cup final. With the Aviva and RDS unavailable that weekend it leaves a choice of Tallaght or Turners Cross. Quite an obvious decision really.
Tallaght it is..
The Setanta Sports Cup organising committee have announced that the 2011 Setanta Sports Cup Final between Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers will take place at Tallaght Stadium on Saturday, 14th May with a kick-off time of 6.15 pm.
“It would have been difficult to pick these teams out from start but it should be a great final,” said organizing committee Chairman Milo Corcoran.
“Shamrock Rovers have been the team to beat recently having won the title last year while Dundalk have had a tremendous run to the final. Both sides will be going into the game with genuine expectations of lifting the trophy.
“In the interest of facilitating as many spectators as we could, Tallaght Stadium made the most sense as the venue for the final. It has all the facilities necessary and suitable to televise a final of this stature.”
Due to Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers meeting in the Setanta Sports Cup final, a number of changes have been made to the Airtricity League fixture list.
The Airtricity League Premier Division fixture between Shamrock Rovers and Derry City scheduled for Friday, 13th May has been rescheduled for Monday, 13th June at Tallaght Stadium with a kick-off time of 8.00 pm.
The Airtricity League Premier Division fixture between Dundalk and St Patrick’s Athletic scheduled for Friday, 13th May has been rescheduled for Monday, 13th June at Oriel Park with a kick-off time of 7.45 pm.
Meanwhiule, the Airtricity League Premier Division fixture between Derry City and Drogheda United scheduled for Monday, 9th May will now take place on Tuesday, 10th May at Brandywell Stadium with a kick-off time of 7.45 pm.

Dundalk will have their home game against us next weekend and will have to make do with that.

Listen Hula your'e talking through your Hoop, groundwise Rover's are all furcoat & no knickers
Can somebody explain to me what's so bad about renting a pitch? It's a fairly normal arrangement in most countries.
Unlike those countries, we paddies are pre-programmed to need his own blade of grass, you see.Originally Posted by Charlie Darwin

Not something restricted to football, mind.

It's no reason to respond in kind though, is it? From my experience, neither Rovers nor Dundalk fans are anything like as snappy as they are on these yonder forums.
God, don't get me started. Irony is that the land the council took over to build the stadium is worth significantly less than it is now.Originally Posted by mypost
