Good post as usual from Balls, to the point without personal attack. I disagree with some of what is said but we will agree to differ. On the Oscar Traynor game against Wexford, I'm told it is put back to Wednesday 23rd March. Good news on the junior international call-ups - Clonmel Town's Ritchie Ryan and Ian Barnes plus St.Michaels Chris Higgins called to Dublin on March 26th. Ritchie Ryan and Chris Higgins were certainties after good games in Tipp trial. Delighted for Ian Barnes who wasn't selected for Tipp trial but impressed so much with TSDL team manager Mick O'Brien added him for Dublin final trial. Hard luck on Jimmy Carr who misses out. He can take heart as he is young and time is on his side. Best of luck to Clonmel Town and St.Michaels - both have tough games but they can do the TSDL proud with two wins.

I just had the misfortune of having to watch the Town/Athenry game,a very very average Athenry side easily knocked out a toothless Town side, they looked as if they had no interest at all,the line up was baffling, shanahan left back,o connor centre half?? if its true they suspended Barnes themselves for today thats nearly as bad a decision as the line up itself,Town are in decline since Mckeever left and there is no getting away from that

I know how you feel... Another well below par performance from Town! Cant seem to be able to hold on to the ball. They wont win an F.A.I with that sort of football

Clonmel Town line up ; Ryan, Quinlivan, Shanahan, Condon, O'Connor, Scully, Loughnane, Comerford, McGrath, Cleary, Maguire. Sub used Barry Ryan for Loughnane. Goal came around the half hour mark. Town dominated the second half but Athenry defence always in control. Both sides hit the woodwork in the second-half. Athenry were the better side, very well organised and disciplined.

Good question. Clonmel Town had high hopes with this team but within six days it has all fallen apart. They brought in players for national and/or provincial success but these players failed to deliver. The Ian Barnes incident didn't help and he was missed to-day. Also Darren Burns an unused reserve while quite a few performed badly. Barry Ryan was no improvement and overall Town were too dependant on scraps from long throw-ins and corners. Disappointed with Ritchie Ryans error for the goal but thought enough defenders were around to prevent the goal. Town have now just four TSDL league games and Tipperary Cup to play for. They have an excellent schoolboy and youth setup and I think they should concentrate on these lads coming through.

I am always going to be bias to the thurles lads but what exactly was Barry going to do in 10 minutes,Ted should have started up front, mcgrath is average at best,he waited way to long to make changes,i actually think Villa will surprise Town in the Tipp Cup

Does anyone have any clarification yet on how many teams are going to be relegated from premier league and how many will go up from the first division?

yes, and if peake did knock clonmel out, this would mean perhaps no cups for clonmel with michaels lookin like the league winners.
And with peake winning the league last year, this is a little bit of a drought for clonmel when you think of all they had in the previous year before.
Clonmel town in decline i ask???

hooper, i would luike to know the same thing. I presume 2up and 1 down would make the most sence.

I asked the same question and the answer is the TSDL committee elected for 2011/2012 decide that. Decision will probably be made at the first committee meeting in June.

Ian Barnes will not be eligible for the game in Dublin on March 26th. It is a trial for the Amateur international team, not the Junior international side. Anybody who played professionally AT ANY TIME is ineligible for the amateur team, but eligible for the junior side. As Ian played professionally for Kilkenny City some years ago he is therefore ineligible.

I dont think were as bad as people are making them out to be. I thought second half they were the better side, and I felt if they got it to 1-1 they would have gone on to win the game. It was a very soft goal to give away. Athenry were very good at the back and any team will find them hard to break down. Carrick lost to a poor side on Sunday, Michaels will make bits of North End in q/final.

For Town they must stick with Jamie. He is a good manager and given time he will get things right. Despite all the negative stuff coming from supporters and on the radio, Town have a bright future. We may just have to go a couple of seasons where will just have to rebuild and be patient.

Ye Michaels should beat North End, but Carrick expected to beat them also and I think that was half their problem. Expecting to beat someone means you are not focused. I guess the surprise element of North End is now gone and the wide player that caused Carrick so much trouble in the opening half was sent off so he will be in the stand next day. Also think a stronger ref will not allow North End get away with some of the tackles that went in against Carrick and likewise they will hardly get another gift pen.

There will be no games played in Ireland on Sunday March 27th the day of the John Giles Walk. This has already been agreed by all league fixture secretarys.

Clonmel Town 2 Cashel 1.....a great game to watch,a very game performance from Cashel who were very unlucky not to take a point at the very least,David Slattery and Micky Coleman were excellent and caused Town plenty of problems and James Mulligans free kick was a cracker, for the neutrals it very much keeps the title race alive,i hope the injury to the Town centre half is not too serious, seemed to twist awkwardly in the turf, hopefully just a twist and no serious ligament damage or anything
