    Of course it is...

Anyway, any manager who doesn't want Finn needs his head examined. Best midfielder in the country IMO.

Budget issues might stop him going to most, but everyone would make room for him if they could

what is the Rovers playing budget by the way?
It's in no way confirmed, all I know is that Finn was training with us over the last couple of weeks when he's been in Dublin.

The Rovers budget is no doubt the highest in the league if that's what you're wondering, but although I hate to break it to you, at our AGM it will be confirmed as being affordable.

I'm fairly sure Bohs have confirmed their budget as affordable at past AGMs too in fairness...

At least youre not spining the part-time thing this season. The way some Shams fans were going on last year you would swear it was somthing to be ashamed off.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

I don't think even Bohs fans would argue that our two boards/member set-ups are in any way comparable.

We were part-time last year, no two ways around it. This year we're training some days, as well as evenings (as we did last year) but do feature more full-time players. The move to even some daytime training sessions almost meant we missed out on re-signing guys like Pat Flynn who have other jobs, but as far as I know a deal was reached where they can train with the A-Championship team some nights.

And the reason for our budget being the biggest in the league will have more to do with cutbacks elsewhere than an increase in our budget. People seem to want to talk about our 5 strikers being overkill, but Sheppherd, Kelly, Kilduff and Gary O'Neill have replaced Fenn, Stewart, Baker and Barrett, and I'd imagine only Gary O'Neill
would be on similar wages to that which established players like Baker would have been on. Add in last year's increased prize-money from winning the league, reaching the Cup Final, a good European run, the Juve TV money and selling over 2,500 season tickets the last couple of years and I don't see any reason to think everything's not fine. With other clubs finally working off sustainable budgets (well...) it's the perfect chance for us to capitalise having been doing the same for the last few years.

.........Just as it was confirmed that the budgets were affordable at the AGM of Shels 2000, shams 2004, Drogheda, Cork, Bohs And as we all know boards never ever get this type of thing wrong the more things change.........

Do you really think Shamrock Rovers are about to go the way of Shels in 2006 or Bohs 2010?

Well you were banging on about all the money you brought in last year through prize money etc and your euro run but can you tell me here and now if you came even close to breaking even or is it a case that your figures are a state secret while you ****e on about every other clubs finances.Given that many budgets are down and you are signing a greater number of full timers this year with far far reduced income this season unless your operation has scaled back significantly that break even scenario will be lot harder to attain lower wages or not

The reason I was "banging on" about the prize money factor I thought was pretty clear.

Some people will say, like you do, that we're signing loads of players.

We're actually just replacing players we let go last year (Barrett, Baker, Fenn, Stewart replaced by Kildfuff, Shep, Kelly and GON)

Perhaps you think Shepperd or Kilduff would be on bigger wages than Baker or Fenn. Most people wouldn't, most would guess they're on lower wages, but if you thought they were being paid more, we also had a couple of windfalls such as the Juve TV money which wouldn't have been budgeted for.

Like all clubs, not just in the LoI, reaching a break even point will be bloody difficult, but there's absolutely no reason to suspect we're going to miss out spectacularly on that and us going down the Shels 2006/Bohs 2010 road doesn't look like happening despite the hopes and dreams of Bohs fans.

Bohs/Shels would be a better example if League Champions overspending is the accusation made.
