Daniel McDonnell reporting that Barry Conlon wants to play in League of Ireland. Would love to see him at Monaghan but I reckon he's out of our league. Would be a good signing for a Premier club though.

I'd pity anyone that picks up Barry Conlon, the worst kind of professional footballer who will only play for about one month a year, to make sure he has a contract for the next season. The rest of the time he just wanders around picking up red cards. A shame really cos when motivated he can actually be quite decent
Always thought he was from Monaghan.
has scored goals in the lower English leagues. Would imagine he'd do a grand job here

Think he's from Monaghan. He was talking to Dundalk last year but wanted too much money apparently. Don't see clubs queueing up for him, his off the field attitude doesn't seem to be very good, don't know what his on field performances have been like but he hasn't been kept too long anywhere.
Wikipedia has him down as being from Drogheda, but I've heard the Monaghan thing before. I think a lot of Monaghan people are born in Drogheda though (nearest maternity hospital), so I'd say that's what it is.

He's from Carrickmacross (south Monaghan) and played for Monaghan minors before heading for Man City. Was actually on Dundalk's books before he left. Think you're being harsh on him-he has scored over 100 league goals in 400 matches. Yes, he has moved clubs a lot but that's the way the lower leagues work in England. Clubs can only risk short-term contracts and players make their money from signing on fees. He's clubless as of now but I think he might baulk at current LOI wages.
Maybe exodus overstates it but such player turnovers are the norm in any case- apart from last season when we kept the core of the squad. Barrett and Fabio could be good signings and hopefully there will be a few more before the start of the season.
Off-topic sorry, but question for the Monaghan lads. How has Shane Grimes been getting on with you's?
