(watched last night) also enjoyed this movie a lot. Very gruesome in parts but had that black humour that saved it from being too dark and depressing. Not so sure i am convinced by Casey Affleck yet by the way.

Tears of the Sun - Bruce Willis, Monica Bellucci. About a war in Nigeria.

Just about the worst war movie i have ever watched. Every cliche in the book. It just gets worse and worse. I firmly believe that it provided the inspiration for Tropic Thunder. You must check this out just so you can agree with me.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Watched both Mesrine films back to back last night. Top quality cinema. Really enjoyable films.

    One of my favourites.
" I'll tell you what: if you don't cooperate, you're gonna suffer from "fistophobia". "

Watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid there the other night. Always enjoy that, although The Sting is still better.

"Frontiers": Robbers flee a robbery into rural France and take refuge in a hotel, unknown to them the owners are Nazi cannibals who have a big interest in their new guests, plenty of blood spatter and gore,in French/subtitled but so good you won't notice. If you are anyway squeamish it's not for you-for gore fans 9/10.

Saw a preview screening of Unstoppable last night, it's about a runaway train with Denziel Washington and some other less famous actors. It's not bad, an easy if totally unchallenging watch - there are probably better films out in the cinemas at the moment but this is a safe bet if say a group of you with different tastes are going.

At the flicks over the last couple of weeks:
Due Date. Very funny show, some brilliant gags, and though no doubt it highlights some severe character flaw or other, SPOILER: I nearly choked laughing when RDJ punched the kid in the stomach. Would recommend it to pretty much anyone. 8.5/10.
Red. Not the most taxing of films, but an enjoyable 2 hours. Bruce Willis doing his thing, John Malkovitch with all the best lines, and Helen Mirren wielding a series of increasingly big guns. Terrible to say too but a genuine surprise to see Ernest Borgnine pop up, I really did think he was no longer with us! Would give it a solid 6.5/10.

I remember watching them with my housemate and the plan was to watch the 2nd one the next night but after the first we both wanted to see the 2nd straight away. Cassell is a top class actor

    Recently watched:
John Q: great Denzel film- his kid needs a urgent transplant but he can't get health insurance to pay for it, so ends up taking the doctor who'd do it hostage to force him to preform the op.
Jackass 3D- If you found the stupid humor of the show funny you'll enjoy it. I actually barfed twice though!
Pelham 1 2 3(the original)- Far better than the remake, definitely see this if you liked the Travolta version.

Rented "Predators", yikes, where to begin, it was pretty bad. Within the first few minutes, I was already looking at the clock to see how long it had to go. Horrible dialogue, bad casting and a plot that seemed to be written as they went along. It got bad reviews, but I figured I'd give it a shot because the director Nimrod Antal wrote and directed Kontroll, one of my favourite foreign films over the last ten years. I'd give this movie 2 out of 5, only because Alice Braga is easy on the eye.

Ok, couple of films I've watched recently. Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. Mental - but brilliant. Why Dustin Hoffman is in it I don't know. Just watch it. 10/10.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Enjoyable, well worth watching. 8/10

Charles Groden and de Niro were excellent in this. Played off each other so well.
Yeah man, they call gambling a disease, but it's the only disease where you can win a bunch of money.

Watched it, silly, and you would wonder what was going through the actors head when this script was suggested to them

Given the film, I'm not quite sure I would want to know that actually!

Rented "The expendables", thougt it was pretty awful, Jason Statham has been in some decent action flicks, don't know why he signed up for this one.

Also rented "The dissapearance of Alice Creed", thought it was a tedious and monotonous bore, the director wrote the screenplay for the Descent 2 so I should have known what I was in for.

Finally got around to watching "The Orphanage", thought it was pretty good, better than most ghost movies I've seen, pretty sad though.

"Paradise Lost",group of back packing tourists in Brazil survive a bus crash and end up in a bar on a beach but are drugged and all their possessions are stolen, but that's nothing to what's in store as other locals have designs on their bodies as well.

Strictly over 18's job, with very graphic visceral violence and I loved it 8/10.

"Whiteout",Kate Beckinsdale as an FBI agent dealing with the first murder in Antartica, not bad. 6.5/10

"Twelve Monkeys",a tiny bit dated but still excellent,Brad Pitt & Bruce Willis,Willis goes back & forth in time trying to save the world in the Terry Gilliam classic. 9/10

Easy A - Pretty good actually. Girl lies about sleeping with her gay friend so he won't get bullied in school. When the rest of the social outcasts in the school hear about this, she is offered money, gifts, etc, by them to give them the same deal. After the lies spiral out of her control, she embraces her new found status and embroiders a scarlet A on her clothes, as in the heroine of The Scarlet Letter which her English class is studying, hence the title. Going to be a breakout role for Emma Stone in the lead.
