Looking for directions to the new Fahy pitch if I am travelling from Westport. We are playing U14 there on Wednesday and I have no numbers for Fahy officials. Any help is much appreciated.
The Blue Moon is shining on the world tonight!!!!
I have yet to see a positive comment coming from you about anything. I could have predicted who would respond. You are full of sarcasm and incapble of offering anything constructive to football. You would be far better putting your energy into getting your own house in order, and I am not a press officer for anyone.
Lads, take it elsewhere, there's a PM system for squabbles like this.
You're stupid..........
A no, seriously, This is the best I could come up with, but I could be wrong

Frank,
Head out the Castlebar road from Westport about 300 metres past the Castlecourt hotel, take a left immediately after the factory, continue about 4 miles down a winding, potholey road until you pass a church on your right. The pitch is in 100 metres front of you. There you have it. In a mixture of metres and yards.
Hard to know where to start a reply to this. Considering I have spent nearly 20 yrs playing managing and coaching in the Mayo leagues, I would hope that I contributed something positive to the playing of football in the county. I rarely post on these forums and for you to single me out leads me to believe that this is more a personal issue you have with me and if so follow the 12th mans advice and use the pm facility. Also I will continue to try and put my own house in order and thank you for your warm words of encouragement.
I have been on this forum for a few years now and despite not knowing The Don my experience has been that he is one of the more reasonable, unbiased and helpful contributors in the Mayo League threads. If he has a grievance with the Mayo League I think it it is far more likely to be genuine than some pointless attempt at undermining their authority.
I have spoken to lots of people involved in quite a few teams in the league who have expressed dismay and disappointment in the rule changes, the overruling and the pedantry of the league this year, but mostly with their lack of consistency and transparency. It seems to me that they are a closed shop, who have now come to consider the actual teams who constitute their league as cash-cows, rather than the grass-roots of the game. What you don't seem to understand is that people can have problems and gripes with the system without having the time to become part of it.
I think the standard of football in the Mayo League is at the lowest ebb that it has been since I got involved, seven years ago or so. That should be the main concern of the Mayo League, rather than imposing ridiculous rules which premiership clubs don't even adhere to.
Is it June that the transfer window is open between the leagues (Counties) does anybody know?
yourè right, the mafl are elected to help and promote the game but instead are causing grief with fines and crazy rulings.
Maybe some sort of egm could be called to clear the air as i`m sure they must know that people are not happy by the posts on here as a clear signal of this.
From the horses mouth "It was decided last November to reduce all divisions to 8 teams for the 2011 season. This will happen and the only factor to be confirmed is how this will be achieved. The final standings in all Divisions regarding reserve teams and their A teams will dictate the amount of teams to be relegated and the number then to be promoted, i.e if westport B finish in the top two of the Premier then only 1 will be promoted and 3 relegated and this trend will continue down the divisions. this is a 3 year trial period and WILL come into effect in 2011"
Was talking to a club man last night who is directly connected to the ML and this is their stance. They are also considering re-naming all the divisions and may consider reverting to a 2a and 2b type format as before to accomodate the unfortunate teams in Division 2 who will be pushed down to the 5th tier of Mayo football when the new leagues are formed as 8 will come out of division 1 and form a new division 2 on their own. Apparently there are to many possibilities and scenarios to paint a full and clear picture to give to clubs but some sort of notice was issued pre-season or towards the end of last season giving a general outline of what was to come.
Furthermore the ML take absolutly NO notice of anything on this forum and if you have something to say it must be said through your club and put in writing. Only 2 clubs have voiced their discontent with the new format and if this is the situation then all the rubbish we have been reading on this thread is a waste of time. It's time that all posters on here who are affiliated with Clubs in the ML put their writing power to constructive use and call upon the ML to hold clear the air talks with all the clubs in Mayo and clarify once and for all what we can expect in 2011 because as it stands its only chinese whispers and gossip on the sidelines.
There arent that many possibilities and scenarios, the only variable is the b teams. So basically they are going to relegate teams along the lines discussed on this forum. I can assure you no team in the league were informed of this. So basically Div 2 teams can call it a day for this season and feck off to the beach. Maybe now a few clubs will get the finger out as back n the game said and put pressure on the League to clarify this matter for once and for all.
They seem to be making this up as they go along just for the sake of keeping busy.
As you say there is no clear guidelines and this leads to anger come the seasons end when a club could be relegated or not promoted because of certain criteria.Sort out the rules once and for all and stick with them.
yourè on about chinese whispers and then quote a meeting with a mafl official, the clubs and players are the most important things not the mafl`s ego.
I dont believe that for a second. Id say 99% of people with a genunie interest in Mayo Soccer read these pages daily. Everybody on here doesnt get on all the time and we all may bicker now and again but the reason for that is that the majority of people on here have a pasion for Mayo Soccer and their own clubs. there are players on here and club officals and im pretty sure there are league officals and referees. We all have one thing in common in that we are essentially the life blood of football in the county. We may not all agree but thats healthy to have debate. The league might say they dont take notice of people on here but because its unoffical they have to say that. Also if they dont take notice of comments on here they are essentialy ignoring the lifeblood and grassroots of the game here. Sometimes the situation reminds me of the economy and how it was run. We made so many strides and yet failed to ignore the cracks that were emerging. Everybody needs to work together now to put football back on track if the really care about the game here. Everyone needs to grow up and take their heads out of the clouds. We as clubs need to take a smack on the arse every so often without sulking but the league too needs to hear what we the clubs are crying out for too. If anyone has a bit of balls out there then i urge a meeting with the clubs to be organised by the league. I would also say that anyone who attends these meetings not throw a tantrum like we have seen recently and simply debate this thing out so we can all move on.... I can guarentee one thing, if these problems are not listened to by both sides then football will take a step back that it will take a long time to recover from! Most people have already heard the comment this year "the Quaility of the super league is Sh1te"- well let me tell you that if the rot is not stopped soon the cracks will get bigger till whole thing bursts open!!!
Its time now for everybody to wake up notice that the house is falling down!![]()
