Do you think where a player plays might have some effect on his goal rate?

Ribery is top class and proven at the top level. Benzema is a good player but hes the type of player we can cope with at the back, hes not as quick as some of their other players, Govou, Henry, Ribery...these are the tricky dangermen for us with our 4 tugboats at the back.

We can rough this lot up though, its our only chance to kick the living daylights out of them and hope Robbie sticks one in.

    We are up against it.

No of course not. My point was the Benzema is just as, if not more, prolific as Ribery. I've seen Benzema a couple of times in the flesh and he can play wide. Whether he does or not is another question. I just don't think Ribery gone makes it much easier. We've a Sh1t left back that's our problem.

But Benzema's goals come as a striker not as a winger. Simple fact is that Ribery is a better winger than Benzema. Big loss for France.

I thought the away 2-1 win against Cyprus was the worst trap game ever. Long balls lumped all night. Its like he decided to become Charlton for one game and then ditched it.

It was brutal but played like a testamonial, there was hardly a tackle put in... I think its very safe to say we will play more like in the games in the rest of the campaign.

Still can't believe people are citing the Montenegro game as an indicator of Trap or the quality of our team. It was literally the most meaningless competitive game of all time.

Agree with that, though I think we should have been pushing for the win and put in a much better performance if nothing else but for our coefficient points.

Not to mention that, all in with travel costs, match ticket and refreshments it put me back a couple of hundred yoyo's plus 2 days off work...but thats another issue!!!

Agreed - The performance in that game however will bear no resemblance to the one on 14th and 18th November!!
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

montenegro game is no barometer to where we were...players were going through the motions!!france are overrated, struggled through their group which wasnt particularly tough, henry is well passed it,benzema has looked unimpressive so far at madrid, big step up from a very poor french league....people will say he scored plenty of goals ther,so did the like of diouf, cisse, guivarch!!
their defence isn't as strong as ours...if we keep a clean sheet a home i'd fancy our chances in paris...the home support tend to turn very easily in paris,i predict 0-0 in dublin and 1-1 in paris to take us through
