3 if you count the midweek game against Barcelona

Anyone see SSN last night talking to City fans.....every last one of them said Centre Back is their problem child and Lescott and Toure is the solution. Dunnie has fallen very out of favour there. Surprised Moyes didnt make him part of the deal
but Dunne is less popular than tony coton at city these days

Had another look at MOTD last night, from the highlights of the City game, it seemed that Dunne was trying to cover for Toure whenever Wolves got a break

In fairness SSN seek out the most feeble minded idiots to get vox pops from as far as I can see, makes their target audience feel at home. A lot of the boards and newspaper forums are still very appreciative of what he's done and admit he's been playing well this season. There are a few stating otherwise alright but they're in a minority.

Football fans are fickle. No different from any club.

Looks like Dunne won't be off to them anyway.

read some of the comments on the article on Manchester Evening News: http://www.manchestereveningnews.co....ze=50#comments
The general consensus seems to be that it's a shame he has to move, but in a World Cup year he needs first football, and he will be welcomed back by the fans

not my words, taken from the comments link above:
in World Cup year Dunne will want to be first choice
I think (especially with the world cup coming up) he will want to be playing regular first team football
Don't feel that his pride will allow him to stay on as bench warmer especially in World Cup year
    World Cup year etc etc
Dunne needs regular football prior to the World Cup
in a world cup season all players will be thinking about impressing their international manager

I think a move to Villa will be as good as we can expect for Dunne now. He is right to move and has been treated pretty shabbily by City throughout. He will be assured of first team football at Villa, be part of a strong side who, unlike City, won't require time to gel in order to challenge for the top four places. The second best option is Everton, of course, but the arrival of Distin will probably stymie that. I for one would consider a move to these clubs a step up for Dunne and am hoping he moves for either as opposed to the likes of Sunderland.

Portsmouth would be the worse move since Duff followed the money to Newcastle.

I love the "he'll need first team football in a world cup year" That right we're really Spain!!

Looking at alot of what those city fans are saying they seem to have the exact opposite opinion of what many Irish fans have said recently on this thread......

    Really?

Have Villa decided to get rid of him so soon?

Aston Villa have agreed a fee with Manchester City for Richard Dunne, believed to be about £6m, and hope to follow up the signing of the Republic of Ireland centre-half with the acquisition of the Blackburn Rovers full-back Stephen Warnock.

Was reading that post and 3 workmates behind me went "yes!!", didnt realise they were reading my computer. Great news, at this point would prefer him there than at city, and if he's really given captaincy could be a huge boost of confidence for him

Great move for Dunne. I'm delighted. I wasn't didn't fancy watching him sit on the bench until January at Man City.

I am no longer a City "fan" and I hope Villa kick their RSs. Hughes is a fool.
