I watch him quite frequently. I'd make the point that playing behind such an attack minded midfield, the only player he can really pass to is whoever is in the holding role, either Kompany or De Jong. It's not that his distribution is bad, it's that he has noone to pass to.

They played 2 defensive midfielders for the majority of the season which would give him more options rather then less in my opinion and ireland was more box to box for the first half of the season when given the central role,

Regards the Richards point above he was terrible but Onuaha and kopmany played along side Dunne more then him so that excuse doesnt hold with me.

Im not saying i dont rate him im saying hes not top 4 material

He will be grand at City so as they will not be worrying the top 4 for a while.

Similar enough to your post about the United match-goers in another thread. I'm not of this opinion at all. Firstly, like the rest of us, match-goers are generally fairly divided. Secondly, I know some match-goers who I don't think have a clue dispite their loyalty. Thirdly, when it comes to the PL I definitely see enough of the regular starters to have my own opinion whereas I'd be more inclined to take others word for it in relation to the Eircom Lge, local soccer, etc.

Also from reading various threads on that BBC 606 thing it's mainly fellas winding each other up like Primary School kids.

Have a read of what those fans thought of him 18 month ago though. He had a bad year which imo was down to poor team selections but he's still as good as ever. Football fans are very fickle. I don't know many Celtic players that are fans favourite after having a poor season.

That is Hughes' biggest problem. Playing Ireland in a 2 man midfield. Madness. He's a natural give and go player and won't be in positions to cover for lost possession. And it wasn't really until Christmas that he started playing 2 defensive midfielders.

Dunne will not be forced out of City, and no bids have been received, according to Mark Hughes: http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news...n-dunney-talks

Still mentioned as the club captain in that article, I was under the impression that the captaincy had been offered to Barry as part of the transfer.

De Jong would have been a big help too. Dunne wasn't bad at all after the new year.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement, basically, "we want to sell him but no bids have come in" !!

I think they've got this wrong and Dunne alongside Terry would be a great partnership.

Dunne came off with an injury today in Man City's match with Kaizer Chiefs.

Hughes said in the post-match interview that it's an impact injury to the side of his knee.

    Hopefully nothing major.

short update on Dunne's injury in South Africa from http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news...ums-up-SA-tour
Following the squad's return to the UK on Sunday morning, Mark said, "Dunnie has been struggling with his knee leading up to the game, he wanted to try it but it quickly became obvious he really was struggling so we needed to take him off.

I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Am slightly biased on this one but I'd love to see him at Celtic and playing in the Champions League, I really do think that aside from some blips last season he's been one of the best Centre Halves in the EPL over the last 5 years and I think he deserves the chance to play in the Champions League so he can prove it on a wider stage

Will Celtic even make the group stages though? I'd definitely prefer to see him there than at Sunderland or somewhere regardless.

With all Man Citys attempts to sign John Terry I was surprised that they were never linked with Carvalho instead. He is one of the classiest defenders in England without ever getting the praise he deserved.Really think City are missin a trick there because I honestly believe that if Richard Dunne was paired with Carvalho they would complement eachother perfectly and be one of the best partnerships in the league
    Its really not that complicated!!!
