I can't see everything being fine for too much longer if they really do have a wage bill approaching €140k a month. Don't interpret that as wishing ill on Cork now Cork fans just genuinely don't see it adding up.

I'm certainly not, but your childish comment re petrol and FAI offices was a really stupid statement to make.

As a fan of irish football for over 30 years* I realy hope Cork can sort things out, would be a real shame to lose a club of their size, support and excellent ground. But they cant be alowed to just brush over the o/s debts and massive reported tax bill. Most other clubs with sizeable wages have a standing order scheme in place where income tax is collected each month, I cant specifically name any, but I know this is how we pay our taxes, and it means you are up to date. Also I think a lot of us are just sick and tired at the amount of clubs who are still living well beyond their means, and still doing this 6 months into a recession, so maybe not dancing on graves, but do you honestly expect everyone to feel all of your pain ?

    * I remember a sheet collection going around oriel pk in the early 80`s for one of the previous Cork entities, possibly Cork Utd, I thjink I gave in my pocket money of 50p, so maybe this is something you could try on Friday night ?

The Cork forum and I think one of the papers mentions a wage bill of 140k per month.

If that's even remotely near the truth then I suspect CCFC is a dead club walking.

Edit: the paper was the Echo.

What, spending huge amounts on wages can lead to financial difficulties?

It's like these guys visited the Cork boardroom.

I do wonder what the next cork team will be known as. They've used fordsons, celtic, athlethic, hibs to name a few. the next one should be "langers"
What on earth are you talking about? Who's ye? Grow up ffs.

    400k tax bill.

    Hmmm.

If the Drogs fans can raise that then I have no doubt that the Cork fans could.

What kind of timeframe are we looking at here? The club would almost certainly be handed over to FORAS if such a campaign is succesful?

The situation is not comparable to the Drogheda situation.

Drogs had to pay off around 300k in total.

IF the above figure is correct not only would that be owed but also current contracts would have to be honored, any other existing bills would ahve to be paid etc etc.

Its far from as 'simple' as just raising 400k

The day is darkest before the dawn, but the dawn is coming.

Clubs like Cork and Bohs have to be made suffer in order for them to get their act together and run themselves like something that resembles a business.

So this huge 223 post thread was a complete waste of time with all of it pure rumour which was completely unfounded.
