some very good rule changes their sly, will only serve to make the league more professional. clare league have to be giving credit for that. also lets hope we all role in behind peter webbs idea, two great causes.
Tulla Utd will be running a 5 a side competition on the Bank Holiday Monday 4th May. Once 20 teams have entered registration will be closed. The cost of entry is €100 per team.
Paddy Collins from Limerick has agreed to take the referee assessor job in Clare. Paddy will meet with managers of all clubs before the start of next season. He will also run a referee beginners course in Clare. Anyone interested in doing this course send me on your details and I will arrange a date with Paddy to run this course.
Having an assessor should improve the overall standard of the League and will also give Clare referees the opportunity to referee matches outside of the county.
New rules from start 2009/10 season:
All team managers must hold coaching qualifications.
All clubs in Premier & First division to provide changing facilities.
All clubs to submit to League an official email address for correspondence.
All clubs to submit to League a photo of their Home & Away kits.
Local Cup Competitions:
At the request of the clubs we will be allowing 5 subs in Local Cup Competition's next season. To avoid any objections after the competition's have started all clubs must sign a form agreeing to this before the start of next season.
The CDSL would encourage clubs to support the Public rally for Ennis Hospital next Saturday morning.
To all Junior Soccer Clubs in Clare & Limerick from Peter Webb:
Peter Webb is organising a fundraising event for Milford Hospice and Cahercalla Community Hospital on Sunday 24th May. Most people have at some time been affected by the work that is carried out by both of these hospices and would be aware that they must raise the funding themselves. It is with this in mind that Peter is looking for soccer clubs in Clare & Limerick to unite in one major fundraiser to support both of these worthy causes. There are more than 130 clubs involved in both leagues with some clubs having two or maybe three teams at junior level, and Peter asks that each club nominate two participants to run in the Midwest 10K fun run to be held in Shannon on Sunday 24th May. All of the organisation will be carried out by Peter and the committee he has setup and all you would have to do is register on the website they have setup www.midwest10k.com with the name of your club and the names of the people participating in the run. When registered they will send you on one card for each runner and further details of the run and hope you will raise as much as possible, with no amount being too small.
Peter has spent most of his life involved in schoolboy and junior soccer in both the Clare and Limerick leagues and having lost a sister and very recently a brother to cancer, both in Milford, he is attempting to return the incredible kindness and care they have shown by organising this fundraiser with the support of Junior soccer in both leagues. With a small amount of effort we can on a one off basis make a substantial contribution to this very worthy cause.
The CDSL would encourage clubs to support this fundraiser.
The Draw for the next round of the Prego Menswear Clare Cup will take place on Friday evening at 6.30PM live on Clare FM. Matches will be played on 5th & 12th April.
Some clubs are not sending in results of morning games until 6 or 7. We need these results sent in after matches so that we can update the website and send on the results to Clare FM and the papers.
We will be running a fashion show later this year and details will be available after we finalise them with Martina Costello.
We had over 40 transfer in the last transfer window.
The €40 fine for 3 yellow cards was an administrative error. If you have already paid it you have been credited with the amount. You only get a €20 (4 x €5) fine with your 1 game suspension when you have reached 4 yellow cards.
Anyone interested in doing a CPR course should contact Michael Leahy.
Seamus Hayes from the Clare Champion requests that you send in your team and scorers to them by Tuesday morning. You can send your results to Clare FM "Text ClareFM followed by your result to 53131".
The schoolboy season starts again in May and already they have more players and clubs registered than they had last season. A number of teams from Gort have entered the League.
The FAI will be running an extra summer camp in Doolin this year.

How many clubs will this rule change hinder?.
Not all clubs will have people with the relevant qualifications . Maybe 2010/2011 would be better to give people time to attain the qualifications.
Also the question has to be asked if a club loses their Manager during the season , for what ever reason , and they don't have someone with a qualification that can't or isn't willing to take over . Where those that leave a club?

I'll update this next year.
Whats the general opinion on this? I agree that more time is needed to allow people to get these courses done. Its a god idea but more time is needed for people to get organised properly. At the end of the day is a guy with no experience but has a piece of paper stating he completed a kick start course more qualified than someone who has been involved in the game for years?
you are only a loser when you stop trying. Playing sport does not build character, it reveals it.
Definately Clubs need to be given more time to get Managers etc trained on these courses. Also, you can't just go and start course for coaching Junior Teams which in the Clare league all clubs are,, you have to start at the bottom ( Kick Start 1 ). This course is for Kids up to the age of 8/9. Once Kick Start 1 course is completed you can't just start Kick Start 2. The idea is that you use the Kick Start 1 for a time, ie. go and coach youngsters up to the age of 9 for maybe 6 months and then do Kick Start 2.
Kick Start 2 i think is for age group up to 12/13. You do the same again and so on until your up to Junior Level in this case. That could take up to 2 years.
Maybe what Clare League mean is that Clubs have to show that their Managers etc have started this.
Its a great idea, In time i'm sure that it can only improve the level of Football in Clare.

If you're in the penalty area and don't know what to do with the ball, put it in the net and we'll discuss the options later

Big win for kilkishen against bunratty today. The result has got them right back in the chase.Bunratty played well but lacked killer touch and kilkishen got lucky first goal.Big game now on thursday against newmarket should have alot to say in where title goes.
Is it correct what I am hearing? Lifford beat Avenue today![]()
Delighted for Lifford. They are putting alot into their club. But a double is a big ask, Bunratty holding steady on top, hard job to topple them although going on yeasterdays result nothing is impossible.![]()
Not everyone is directly involved in a club. Was under the impression that it was an open forum that anyone could input on? Or do we have to have swords drawn all the time?![]()
Avenue were beaten quite easily yesterday and the only reason Lifford are hated is that they are undoubtedly the best footballing team in the league. On the day, Avenue lacked everything needed to win. Heart, intelligence and fitness. If poor old Gary Flynn didn't have his ample arse to blow out of he would have exploded after 20 minutes. How the mighty have fallen. Russell has nothing to contribute to the game other than his sly little comments. Utterly useless player. With Avenue's midfield performing in this manner, they hadn't a hope. Well done Lifford, that victory was a long time coming!

I don't know if many hate ye but statements like this definately don't help to endear ye to anyone. Self proclaimation doesn't really count.
It's all about results and things won....... comeback when ye get that monkey off yere backs.
I'll update this next year.
great performance from Lifford - now its up to you to go on and make big results like this count.
But bitchy comments about the opposition wont help your cause.
Big league game against Bunratty could decide where the league title ends up.
As for Avenue - they were poor - they had no leadership and no heart and there defence was a shambles - not what you expect from a club with great tradition. They were missing a few of their more experienced players but a club that size should have enough replacements.
Predictions for the cup:
Lifford to beat Rock but Rhine Rovers to surprise Olympic.
And Rinnana and Newmarket to join them in the semis.
