Drogheda must be playing badly if there not able to keep a lead against Finn Harps.

Go on Harps!![]()
All sympathy I had for UCD and it's fans has jumped out of the window on fire tonight - having received a good number of threatening emails from what purported to be some of their fans after the game tonight.
Enjoy the First Division - you deserve it
Kom Igen, FCK...
galway -v- harps the live broadcast next week.
Battling for survival and you had fewer than 100 fans there? at least some people care about Harps/ Cobh/ Galway.

the battle is over sonofstan, with ye beating them tonight and harps winning they are relegated. They have 2 games left and are now 7 points behind harps who are fourth from bottom.
The important thing is for them to finish last, with the Drogs/Cork situation they might be reprieved otherwise. Réiteoir - pass 'em on the guards, or better yet post them up here!
A leading authority on League of Ireland football since 2003. You're probably wrong.
People care about UCD aswell though
Is a UCD fan who goes to every game any less of a fan than a Cobh fan who goes to every game just because Cobh have more fans??*
*Having briefly looked at that bad joke in the Carlisle Grounds tonight, I'm not sure anyone cares about anything anymore!
UCD v Limerick is going to be an awful love-in next year. LTID and SLK won't know which blues to support.
No, but the point was this; I've been at games in UCD where they've had way more of their own than tonight, but this is the first time I've been there where as much hung on the result for them* - whereas I'm sure the other 3 relegation battlers would muster all of their support for the last ditch.
* if they'd won tonight and Cobh and Harps had lost, they would still have been in with a chance

Assuming UCD have a support base, however small, of slightly more than the 50-100 that were there tonight, I would hope that for any club in their situation, everyone who counted themselves as any kind of fan would show up for what was certainly their last chance of staying up. They didn't. Which suggests that much of their already slender support is pretty casual. And while I accept that a sincere UCD fan is as sincere as any similarly sincere fan of any other club, a club needs a certain critical mass for the singular enthusiasms of a few nutters to become a fan base; and, perhaps more importantly, there needs to be a geographical connection with an area that can be marshalled as a reserve army in times of trial. Put it this way; if Harps or Cobh survive, everyone in Ballybofey or Cobh will know it, and most will rejoice, even if they never go to games (true to a lesser extent in Galway) ..... a situation that does not translate to the rest of Belfield, never mind Dublin 4.
