I personally would not be able to deal with it as I no longer member of the M.L.
However I would expect clubs to play in the spirit of the game.
Its VERY hard to detect some one who's played under assumed name, unless you have photo of team, booked and gives wrong name to referee.or get injured taken to hospital. He may then follow the club which would leave the club in a be-caress position.
However had found a club in this position number of years ago who did get caught, and ended up paying for there crime. I would like to think it doesn't happen today.Because of the cost, it could end up on a club.

I would just like to echo your note, well done Mulranny and best of luck to Cross in the playoffs. The league table never lies and even though it was a very competitive league the two best teams finished on top. Cross will find it tough to go up, winning two playoff games are a bit of a lottery. Its back to the drawing board for the rest of us slogging away in div. 2 in 2009.

Good to see Mulranney win promotion, just goes to show what hard work can do.
Lets hope they now turn some of that energy into the youth side of the club.

Not sure, probably the 26th of October as there is FAI Junior this weekend and the following weekend looks like Connaught Cup.

Any word on play off game Cross v B'heane B. This whole play off thing is a complete joke. The league is finished for weeks and the two most important games are still not played. Very tough on players. Also finishing 2nd in your league and not getting promoted is harsh. Then having to play two play-off games is even harsher. The format should be changed to 3 up 3 down (1 play off game) or have a division 3 with two up two down, this would give teams something to play for. For most of Div 2 the season is over after a handfull of games. Come on Mayo League listen to the grass roots!

Thanks a lot Cloggs, it's been a long wait for the playoff match but we're looking forward to it. Glad the game is in Manulla, it's probably the best pitch we've played on this year.

I have to agree, but it not as a easy as saying 3 up 3 down. As you know div. 2 is split so if you pick 2 from one side and one from the other it may not be fair because you can have a difference in quality in the leagues depending on the draw. The league is making it harder to get promoted by having two promotion playoff games and only one relegation playoff game for div. 1. The winner of the Cross Ballyheane game will still have to play the 3rd from bottom team in div 1 in November, i thought it was a summer league, what a joke. There has to be a better system but do the League care enough about div 2. to review it? i doubt it.

On a 3 up 3 down the way it would work is that the two winners of the divisions 2 go up and the winner of the playoff between the two 2nd place teams go up with the bottom 3 from division 1 going down. The 2nd playoff should not happen. The playoff between the two 2nd teams should occur the week after the league ends. Goal difference should decide league placements. Teams should not be allowed not fulfill fixtures. If they miss a fixture they should be severely fined, with some of the fine going to the other team and some going to the league, and made re-schedule it. This would have the effect of making 'larger' clubs think twice about fielding b and c teams. This would also have the effect of making div 1 more competitive. As stated the league don't care as their main officials come from the larger clubs and have large club leanings. This may not be deliberate but lads that's the way you are. However keep the faith. NoelM good luck on Sunday. Due to work committments I may not be there but will be tuned into midwest. As always keep the ball on the deck and keep it tight at the back.

Thanks sinabhuil, we'll need all the help we can get. Unfortunately we have injuries to 2 of our most experienced players, one is out and one is extremely doubtful.

I think so, we were 2-0 down at half time came back to equalise and looked like we would win it missed some good chances. Extra time was a bit of a non-event, both teams very tired. Was very disapointed as some of our penalty takers were heckled during the shootout, you'd expect more from coaches/managers.
