    Mayo 1st Division 2008

Anyone any views on the 1st division this year. I think it will be the tightest division of all because there are a lot of quality teams in there. Urlaur and Moyvilla who came up will be good. Anyone any views on how Conn Rangers and Killalla will react to relegation? I think that Urlaur, Inver and Moyvilla will be chasing hard for promotion.

Urlaur are very good at breaking quick from defence with very good long range strikers of the ball. Moy villa must be good as Ballyheane B were very good last year and Moy Villa beat them easily. Urlaur's squads rarely change.

You're spot on S_f, it will be awful tight in that division. It reads like a list of nightmare opposition for most teams in the mayo league. Cant ever remember getting anything easy out of visits to the likes of conn, killalla, and especially urlar. Moy villa had a great season in a poor division last year, but you can only beat whats put in front of you. They will be a force this season. Watch Inver, they will be there or thereabouts.

You should have held back on that statement JP until after the match sunday. Don't base anything on last year as Partry were flying until they got the legs kicked off them by one club and consequently lost 7 first teamers. They came back strongly at the end of season when the injuries abated.

Partry will be no pushovers and will suprise quite a few teams as they did Westport B last Sunday.

sunday is a once off cup match, its always tough playin partry in this cup, year after year the match's have always been competitive so robe are not expecting at all to think they'll walk this one,

by the way, this is not JP but another player but can you guess who. J.P is actually out injured with a calf muscle he injured against cross celtic 2 weeks ago, was talkin to him last sunday and he doesnt reckon he will be able to play. I can see why me being Juan Pablo could trick people into thinking i was JP, but luckily im not!!

as for the league 1, i think it will be close and partry as you said seeing as they have lost some players will find it difficult this year, i would not like to see partry go down at all so hope i am proven wrong.

    many out injured sunday mike???

Bad run of injuries were last year but the close season has been good to Partry and so far (touch wood) they are ALL fit to go. All players back and a couple of good additions, one new and one who took a year out. Feeling confident for the new season and raring to go.
Oh yea I will be like you and deny totally the assumption in the last post of who I really am hiding behind this alias.

very good point, dont hear to many more chairmen putting there own club down. if he thinks that at least let him keep it to himself or try and do something to help avoid that happening !!

I think Ballyheane B could have enough about them to survive in the division

i am not denying any assumption, right so, this is JP, happy now even though it isnt him.

anyways back to footballing matters- good to see ye have ye're squad back.we only have 1 new addition and as i said before, he's a goalie from dublin, big, strong and a great kick out. defense is dodgy this year, the doozer centre back, hes training hard this year, midfield is decent, some tough tacklers, and the strikers only decent, heads can drop if things are not going their away,(sorry Shane & JP!!)

    Foot.ie! And so it begins

Well we finally have the fixtures and the new season is nearly upon us.
I think, as I said before, that the 1st division will be the most competitive despite the super league hype in the papers and on these forums.
Personal opinion time :- the title will be between Charlestown and Moyvilla with Inver, Urlaur and Partry knocking on the door.

as a" b team" they dont have anything to prove, i think mid table and a good run in the cup, team to watch for is moyvilla best team in div 2 last year by a long shot, could go unbeaten other team to watch is partry
Its better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it
