                    Shamrock Rovers have confirmed that they will play Premier League side, Aston Villa in a friendly game at Tallaght Stadium in August.

                    The Hoops will play host to the Lions in the game which will take place at 3pm on Sunday, August 4 at the Tallaght venue.

                    Villa, who have secured their Premier League status for the 2013-14 season, will conduct their pre-season training camp in Germany before playing a number of friendlies in preparation for the new campaign, including this one against Shamrock Rovers.

                    A number of fans are expected to travel from Birmingham for the game, and it should be a great day out for Shamrock Rovers and Aston Villa fans alike.

                    Ticket details are being finalised and will be announced in due course

                        The Lions? That's a new one to me. Always thought they were known more as the Villains.

                                                I think a lot of English teams have a few nicknames though? I suppose how Sligo are Rovers and the Bit o' Red. I suppose at a push you could be called the Bulls too.
