    Galway promoted - Setanta's mistake

Looks like Galway are up. I have to say if very disapointed that you were chosen over Dundalk as i cant see how you could be ahead of us on off the field activities. Having said that hope you do well next season you have great fans and hope you can stay up.

it doesnt mean we are deffo

in the premier league just because we got a premier division licence.although evidence is mounting to suggest we might be it still doesnt mean we will be in it.what licence did dundalk get???
FAO louth4sam:dont you think that if we have a premier division licence and ye have a 1st division licence that it should then be us who get promoted??????its logical and just because ye finished ahead of us for 1 season in this division doesnt ye deserve to go up.
FAO limtillidie:what licence did ye get???oh thats right,ye didnt get 1,hhmmmm.why is there so much opposition from yer fans on this forum to us going up???why do ye seem to spend more time on our forum then yer own,it seems like ye should have far more to discuss then us but ye still are on here everyday.wheres that friendly passive nature that the people of limerick city are famous for???

Because a lot of our fans are old fashioned types who think things should be won on the field.

I posted on this thread becuse the makeup of the new league interests me and it would have surprised me if Galway were confirmed Premier.

Galway crowd have been known to wonder over to "our" forum on occasion aswell, if you've a problem get on to your mod I'm sure he could ban me from this forum if he so chooses

As for our friendly, passive nature, where's the legendary City of the Tribes welcome around here

My source was setanta sports news and there is a quote from nick leesen in it. The hyperlink didnt work last time

Galway United were among the first clubs to be confirmed for next season's FAI-run Premiership.

There was no relegation or promotion from or to the Premier Division at the end of last season as a FAI-appointed committee decided on the best 12 teams to make up the new league in 2007.

United's off the pitch efforts have paid dividend and they will form part of the new top tier in the eircom League despite finishing third in the First Division.

'This is good news for everyone at Galway United FC in that it shows the Club has achieved the required standards' says General Manager Nick Leeson said in a statement.

'The announcement of the make up of the new FAI Premiership for next season, due on December 11th, is eagerly awaited but whatever the outcome preparations for next season are well underway at Galway United.'

2005 league champions Cork City have also confirmed their admission to the new league.

                          But why?
We finished 3 points off top and are probably the most professionaly run club in the Country. It's a great day for Irish Soccer.Do you not think that Irish football needs more clubs with the same attitude and ethos as GUFC?

I think it is about the Premier A Licence and Setanta Sports not researching their story. We have an executive meeting tonight but we have been told all along that no one will be told before the 11th December and all 21 clubs will be attending a meeting in dublin where they all will be informed individually and it will be then announced to the media.

John Gill and some other el supporters seem to have forgotten that their clubs approved this process over 12 months ago end of story.

If this is true, I'm extrmemly happy for Galway.

One of the best run clubs in the league, if not the best. Never overspent on players and always keep their heads above water.

Always create a good atmosphere (Alan - what a drummer...).

Have great potential crowdwise and have been one of the most innovative clubs when it comes to marketing ("It's a Tribal Thing").

                              Great ground too.

Can't see why they shouldn't be in the Premier. I know that if things were done on the pitch they wouldn't be up. Every club in the league at the mo signed up to the new plans, and have to accept whether or not they made the grade.

The only thing about this that upsets me is that if it's true KCFC won't be playing GUFC for a long time possibly. Always a pleasure to host them.

                              All the best Galwegians.
