    We're safe!

All over in Tolka, Waterford drew 0-0. It's over in Terryland, a 2-1 defeat. We're officially safe.

Just relief for the moment! Brutal last stretch of the season though.

**** yeah, hadn't noticed that. That's really poor.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Not just that but we had to rely on other teams to keep us out of it. It's baffling to think with the likes of Quigley, Kenna, McNally, Bermo, McFaul and Finn that we fell into such a position yet here we were.

Half arsed performances, that why. Pete Mahon aiming for fourth, most of the players just aiming for survival- some contrast there. There'll be a few vacancies in the off-season- hopefully he'll stay around.

You have to consider that it is in fact Pete Mahon who has failed to motivate our players. At his age he's not likely to be jumping ship elsewhere. Remember his wife wouldn't let him consider the Shels job.

A lot of the problem with the team is inability to concentrate .
Some of the younger players clearly don't have the concentration necessary to last 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Attention span of a gnat. That's the Playstation/ MTV generation for you I suppose!

Your main point was that if we didn't reach such and such a target we would be doomed, completely ignoring the other teams around us. Seeing as we didn't reach your target are we now relegated?

One of your points was that a team needs 45 points to be safe- 45 points would have ensured a top six finish.

You thought that Steve Staunton was doing a better job that Pete Mahon on the basis that he has won 50% of the games he has managed.

You said "the whole viability of the enterprise is at stake here" as our crowds would suffer if we went down.

You said that Derry were weakened because they couldn't put their second choice keeper on the bench.

And that's only selected points from one thread.

Uhm, the MTV generation was a good decade ago. We've had squads dominated by young players for quite some time, modern concentration issues are not the problem.

Admittedly, if Longford had had their affairs in order, they wouldn't have had as strong a squad as they did and so would have been worse off than they were. Swings and roundabouts. But yeah, a very disappointing season. Although interesting to note that, at the end of it, we were only ten points off a top half finish!

Should have been 4-1 to us last night.

Ye were easily one of the worst teams to play in Terryland all season....not a patch on the team that came in May.

Wasn't at the game but heard that we were all over you for the last 20 minutes and should scored more than once. I think you seem to be taking a one sided view when looking at the chances that each team should have taken. Regardless I hate all this crap of should have been this, should have been that- there's a very good reason why players miss chances.

I kind of agree with both of ye. UCD had a lot of posession for the last quarter but GUFC missed a few sitters. Yes, there is a good reason why players miss chances but I don't know how Alan Murphy missed his golden opportunity to wrap the game up.

Sammon seemed to be very annoyed when he was taken off. What's the story? There must be other clubs sniffing around?

Also, how long has McDonell being with UCD? And are any of the cureent regular first teamers studying at UCD?

Strong rumours that he has signed for Derry. Stoke and Leeds are watching him too.

Tony Mc has been playing for UCD for 14 years. Turned down trials in England to stay at UCD.

Only four from the current first team- Brian King, Ronan Finn, Evan McMillan and Fran Moran.
