Sammon scored 6 goals in 30 or so starts. Paul Byrne got 7 goals in a lot less. I know who I want at the club next season from that pair. Mr. Byrne...
We're safe!

Next season with three going down smart arse , you will need 45 points to be safe! Especially if they still keep the play off which could see 4th from bottom involved in that. Everybody outside the top six this past season was potentially in relegation danger at different points in the season.Your main point was that if we didn't reach such and such a target we would be doomed, completely ignoring the other teams around us. Seeing as we didn't reach your target are we now relegated?
One of your points was that a team needs 45 points to be safe- 45 points would have ensured a top six finish.
You thought that Steve Staunton was doing a better job that Pete Mahon on the basis that he has won 50% of the games he has managed.
You said "the whole viability of the enterprise is at stake here" as our crowds would suffer if we went down.
You said that Derry were weakened because they couldn't put their second choice keeper on the bench.
And that's only selected points from one thread.
You completely missed the whole thrust of the Stephen Staunton point. I was illustrating that Stephen Staunton's team who were playing sh1te had gained a higher percentage of points than UCD. Everyone was calling for Stan to go and rightly so, yet some of the self same people at this club's fan base seemed content with the team's showing all season.
31 points out of 99 is pathetic and unless we substantially improve that percentage next season... we're in the First Division in 2009.Last edited by CollegeTillIDie; 11/11/2007, 8:48 AM.Comment

See, this is why people ignore your points. Sligo finished sixth this season on 41, yet you reckon we need 45 to finish ninth?
Alas, you've completely missed the meaningless of your point. Stan got a low percentage against teams we should have been hammering. You can't compare Ireland losing to and drawing with San Marino to UCD losing to Galway or drawing with Bray.Originally posted by CollegeTillIDieYou completely missed the whole thrust of the Stephen Staunton point. There's not a chance of him going to Derry.
It's true Paul Byrne scored more goals this season but ideally we want them both in the team next year. Sammon is improving with every season and I'd love to finally see that partnership get off the ground.Comment

People don't ignore the points they attack them frequently. Being ignored would not necessitate this much effort. If a team is capable of beating Derry City and Drogheda United away, it should be able to pick up more points than 2 over 3 games against Galway , and should be able to pick more points than 3 or whatever we picked up against Bray over 3 games. Wouldn't you agree?See, this is why people ignore your points. Sligo finished sixth this season on 41, yet you reckon we need 45 to finish ninth?

Oh and Ireland actually managed to pick up 6 points against San Marino, jammy shower of robbing b**tards that the boys in Green were in those two games.
On the points issue when there is 3 points available for a game you need to average 2 to be anyway successful and be in the top two , you need to average 1.5 points per game over the season to be safe in mid table. That means in NO DANGER at any stage of getting sucked into the bottom of the table issues. Anything from 1 point per game on down to the pathetically low percentage we managed and what Longford were left with after the points deduction and you are in trouble.
