All good runs have to come to an end someday. Alan Mahon hitting the inside of the post with that free almost won me a grand- fúck it anyway. Sligo goal was scuffed but our keeper was a bit dodgy for it. Other than that can't really remember.

An injury time goal from Faz Kudozovic gave Sligo their first win over UCD since January 1998 after a largely uneventful game in the Showgrounds this afternoon. It was a game neither side really did enough to win, and Kudozovic was in the right place at the right time to give his side the break.
Pete Mahon reverted to the 4-4-1-1 formation which had been deployed in Drogheda, with Paul Crowley coming into the midfield in place of Paul Byrne, and Ronan Finn playing behind Conor Sammon up front. There was also a surprise debut for Matt Gregg in goals.
Chances were at a premium in the first half; the hosts' best efforts were a couple of wayward headers from corners, while for UCD, Conor Sammon twice got space inside the box, but on neither occasion did he get enough time to place his shot beyond Dick Brush in the Sligo goal. On 35 minutes, a corner from the right led to a goal-mouth scramble, with the ball eventually coming out to Crowley, whose shot went wide.
The main talking point of the first half came five minutes before the break, when Shane McFaul tried a speculative shot, which dipped and crashed off the underside of the bar; after a scramble, Crowley poked home, but the goal was ruled out for a foul.
Sligo's best chance came shortly after the break, when the ball was worked out Choice Aisien on the left, but Gregg was out superbly to make a smothering save and clear the danger. At the other end, a UCD corner was only half-cleared, and the ball was knocked back in to find Conor Sammon ten yards out, but again the ball wouldn't come down to him in time to apply the finishing touch.
The game between increasingly niggly as it went on, with a couple of flare ups - Derek Doyle was booked for a late tackle, while UCD could have been reduced to ten men after a push in the middle of a melee.
Pete Mahon brought on Paul Byrne for Derek Doyle with 20 minutes to go, and it seemed to help as the Students became more of an attacking force. They came agonisingly close to taking the lead with a quarter of an hour to go, when another Alan Mahon special from 25 yards crashed off the outside of the post with Brush beaten all ends up.
The game did begin to flow late on, and into injury time, Paul Byrne sent Conan Byrne through on the right wing, but his cross was just headed away by the Sligo defence. Sligo went straight up the pitch and found Kudozovic on the overlap on the left of the box, and he coolly slotted past the advancing Gregg, with the ball trickling into the far corner.
UCD - Gregg; Mahon, Kenna, McMillan, McNally; Crowley, C Byrne, Doyle (P Byrne 70), Finn, McFaul; Sammon. Subs not used - Quigley, Gallagher, King, Fitzgerald

Doyle went off not Finn.Comment

And Crowley played, not King!
Edit - according to the LoI site, Alan Mahon is our manager and Matt Cregg played in nets.
Makes me think that Brian King did play - it looked like him anyway - and not Crowley...

Slightly biased report there I think. Wasn't a great game but I think we did deserve the win. UCD had two real chances to score, Rovers had a lot more.Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

Don't agree. Sligo had one really good chance that I remember bar the goal. The rest was a couple of scrappy penalty box scrambles, which we had too. A draw was fair; Sligo snatched the win, which is how it goes sometimes.Comment

The team that deserve to win is the team that puts the ball in the back of the net the most times regardless of whatever else happens.Comment

Oh indeed. The last game in Belfield in particular (we were just better than you the other two times). That's football for you.Comment
