Just got a WII for the kids for Christmas. On that website it mentions the controllers etc are compatable with Nintendo WII Japan. Will these work with one bought in Ireland.

Yip ! Well the one I got from that site works anyway. ( you have to sync the controllers with the console ie press the red button inside the little flap and on the controller [all in the instructions])

rumours going around on the net that there's a softmod available that will let you play "backed-up" versions of Wii games. That might be enough to make me buy one!

(BTW mods please remove if this is against the rules, there's a discussion about this on boards.ie)


Is softmod just a program/software rather than a chip ?

either way i still dont play mine ;) But there are a few games coming out that look interesting that i might pick up.

Yeah, it's something you install on the Wii, rather than remove the cover and solder a chip from some dodgy site in Singapore on to it

I wasn't going to, but kind of on a whim I just went out and got one for myself the kids for Christmas.
Console, extra controller (wii play I think) and nunchuck and two games for €320. It seemed like a good deal. Was it?
The Wii Fit was extra.

A good deal yeah. What two games did you get out of interest?

I myself have just bought a little gem called Boom Blox. Absolutely joyful game. A tad frustrating at times but thats the nature of the game i suppose.

There was two lists - one game from each, so I got Mario & Sonic Olympics, and some sports one (beach sports maybe). It was in Xtravision, and it was 270 for the Wii on it's own, so it seemed good alright.
