His penalty seemed to neatly summarise his abilities in a brief act. "Surprising" over complexity and complete lack of substance if it fails.

No its not he scored his 42nd last night
Yeah I just checked it there. I shouldn't have listened to those commentators on Sky who said it was his 43rd.
He's now only 8 goals short of his 100th for Man Utd and only 3 short of his 100th in professional club football.
He played well, scored a great goal AND HE TURNED UP FOR A BIG GAME - much to the dismay of all his critics.
He played well but saying it was a great goal is a bit OTT, it was a good header but when you consider he was being marked by a 5¨6" man playing out of position and who didn´t even jump to contest the ball then I´d hardly call it great

Yes, that's what I like about Roy Keane. Even if he failed to pull off his major trick, the opposition player was unlikely to walk again.

To be fair to Keane, and I'm usually not, he also has an informed opinion of John Delaney.

correct me if i am wrong .. most goals scored are by unmarked players . lampard was unmarked for his goal also ... the idea is to lose your marker to create space to score goals :D:D

I didn't think he played that well, considering he was up against an out-of-position, makeshift right-back.
Before the goal he was nervy and couldn't control properly and couldn't pass. He did well to socre the header but the space afforded to him would not have happened with a real defender marking him.
After that he improved and did really well for the Tevez/Carrick chance. After this, his confidence returned and he did all his fancy trick but he also gave the ball away a few times and his crossing, at times, left a lot to be desired.
And he totally wasted his penalty, tried to be smart and messed up. He's lucky Terry is a worse peno taker, otherwise he'd be hitting the headlines as the villain.

Usually Id agree, but since Gav is about as anti Keane as possible it's not as effective

Not totally out of position he played for Lyon plenty of times at right back and indeed started off his career as a full back before being redeployed by Lyon as a CM

I had to laugh last week listening to the oh so wise Gilsey and Dunphy give out about Rooney's performance in the CL match against Villareal, saying his attitude has changed for the worse and calling him a diver and then go and blame RONALDO, do they ever give up???:D

True. They were going on about Ronaldo's influence on him, but the reality is that Rooney has always dived. And I still think his attitude is fine.

Ronaldo walking off the pitch and leaving his team down to 10 men for 3 minutes tonight has probably made me more angry than anything Ive seen on a football pitch for a long time. He got a bit of a knock when Andy Reid ran into him but nothing too serious. If he was injured he should have gone down long enough for United to get a sub ready.Instead he jogs straight to the dressing room so he can rush off early to get to Paris to collect his European player of the year award tonight.Im a United fan and I never want to see him in a United shirt again, his attitude has stank all season and tonight topped it off. Would love to see him out the door in January.... followed closely by his buddy Nani!

His attitude has not been good all season and maybe that attitude is affecting utd as they have not been in top form this season.
If a player is not happy then maybe its better to show them the door and take the money.
Totenham had to do this with Berbatov and utd may have to do the same with Ronaldo if he continues to sulk.

I thought what he did was a disgrace. He should be served with a substantial fine as punishment.
I lost all respect for him before the season even started with the Real Madrid saga. Ronaldo thinks he's bigger than the club and Fergie has not hesitated in fcuking players like that out.
I don't recognise Ronaldo as a Man Utd player. I view him as Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid who is on loan at Man Utd.
Oh and as for Nani.........one of the worst players I have seen in a United shirt, he contributes absolutely fcuk all. I mean he can't even take corners!

Totally agree but instead it seems that Fergie has backed him and said he did the right thing by coming off.
but the reality is that Rooney has always dived. And I still think his attitude is fine. Some attitude last night,
Stamped on one players chest and raked another player down his leg.
Should have been sent off, twice. Disgraceful stuff. (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=601213&sec=uefachampionsleague&cc=5739)

Horrible stuff. He is a great player but he his a filth bag. Some of the tackles are disgraceful. It's a pity UEFA don't take action after a game he deserves a 3-4 match ban for trying to break your mans leg in the second half.
Lowest form of thuggery.

Agree, ban the vicious rotund numpty... Tevez and Berbatov would make a better strike force anyway...
The MUFC PR machine is once again victorious over the cowardly forces that rule the game Rooney (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/7776630.stm) and to a lesser extent Ronaldo (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/7784101.stm) are off scot free.

I think that behind the scenes, Fergie knows what's going on and Tosic will replace either Ronaldo or Nani.

I think its fairly obvious that ronaldo is spitting the dummy because he was not allowed to get his own way and join Real Madrid.
Utd would be better off to have sold him and taken a big cheque.
Would utd be any worse off if they had played Tevez instead up to this point in the season.
Players that do not want to play for clubs can be very disruptive and even from the players point of view if they lose that joy of playing or appetite then sometimes they never get it back.

I heard he was tipped from behind by another car and immediately did 5 360 degree spins and 2 barrell rolls, before crashing into the barrier. The car's wheels then went on fire.

are you for real !! contributes nothing positive to football.. he practality won league title for utd last year.. yes he is a big showboater but would rather see players trying new things rather than just thumping ball up & down the pitch.. yes he does go down very easy during tackles but which modern player does not these days .. for all the hype & publicity he gets you very rarely see him getting into trouble off the pitch !! e.g ****ed coming out of night clubs / having disagrement in pubs / clubs .. and don't forget the english press slaughtered him for getting rooney sent of in the world cup and he came back a stronger player after it all . he is one of those players if your a utd fan you love him or hate him if your not ... i'd bet any of the top clubs / managers / fans woud love to have him in there team at the end of the day... if nobody would miss him why do we have a thread opened here about him...
will add i think messi or kaka or a class above ronaldo as footballers :ball:
