Actually, given that Trap is on the record (I think) as saying he revised his plan B of playing A. Reid behind a lone striker because of the different option offered by Folan or Best, if neither of these is available...

If, God forbid, we lost Robbie Keane I'd love to see Reid in a free role behind Doyle. Would be something similar to the role he enjoyed with Bent at Charlton.... Wouldn't be too enamoured with Reid behind Keane as a lone forward though..

It might happen. Hunt & Long have done nothing this season.

A goal needed, one minute to go, the ball falls to Andy Keogh. I wouldn't necessarily hold my breath!

Serbia.

That said, I'd also like to see Clinton Morrison back in the squad, simply because he'd give us a different option.

Serbia.

Point taken, though I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from. Serbia home friendly or Paris away play-off ?

I like Keogh but don't think he gets enough goals at club level - though he mucked in with some crucial ones at the end of last season for Wolves.

Clinton is a goalscorer.

Clinton did play well with Robbie when selected and never let Ireland down and as I understand it he is an upbeat personality in the squad which goes down well with Trap.

He certainly started the season off well, although I'm not sure he has kept the form up.

COVENTRY City are planning to sell hot-shot striker Leon Best in January with Birmingham City FC leading the race, claims online speculation.
Mirror Football (http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Coventry-ready-to-sell-Leon-Best-article196551.html) reports that the Sky Blues will cash in on the in-form frontman in the winter transfer window rather than allow him to leave on a free next summer.
It is believed that Premier League Birmingham are closely monitoring the 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international, who has snubbed several offers to renegotiate his contract at the Ricoh.

It will be Keogh. And like Miller and a few other B-side members at this moment in time he is just not good enough. Great attitude but he lacks the quality to score goals in games that matter. Morrison has done it at the highest level and scored some crucial goals for us. His form has been good early season and he deserves a look in but he won't get it I'm afraid. Morrison has the attitude and belief in himself that could well work in these play offs.

Scored a good goal today early in the match against Derby, but beyond that wasn't up to much as Derby controlled the game after that point (didn't really get much service).

Took it off his chest before hitting it on the half-volley with the outside of his foot into the corner.

Surely what is important is that he actually started again having come back from injury, and that he scored?

Having a third striker who offers the team something different is vital if we are to go through against France over two legs.

Absolutely. He is the only striker apart from our starting two that I'd have faith in to make a difference if he came on against France.

Westwood looked class. Definitely too good for that league. Got a few mates who are Cov fans and reckon he's been their player of the season. I know that Spurs were linked to him (although Gomes has now come good) and Chris Woods has been down to see him various times this season on behalf of Everton, so think it'll only be a matter of time before he gets a move. Would love to see him down the Wolves.

Best also looked good - sometimes get the feeling that he's playing within himself because of the standard he's playing at. Would be interesting to see how he would fare if thrown in at the deep end in the Premier League. With his strength, athleticism and willingness to run into the corners he certainly has more to his game than just your average out and out striker. He looks a bit selfish at times and his touch could do with sharpening, however he's young enough to keep improving. He looks a lot better option than Beckford who is supposedly being courted by top flight clubs.

How did Marc Wilson perform?

Made a couple of good block tackles. Seems to have good positional sense and generally gets tight to his man from what I've seen of him this season. Missed the goal though so not sure if he who was at fault for that one (probably him after I've said all that). If clubs were looking to pick off players from Portsmouth he'd definitely be one to have a look at. Also, slightly off topic, I was told that John Utaka is supposedly on £80K a week at Portsmouth despite mainly playing as sub - no wonder they are skint.

Best had a decent game last night. Reckon he could tempt a few premiership clubs to take a gamble.

Westwood looked really accomplished, dealing with crosses expertly, great distribution and a good shot stopper. Very promising.

I thought Bell did well and looked useful. Beauty of a goal by Leon. Otherwise not too exciting. Westwood was excellent for the 85 minutes I saw of him. I missed the goals by Portsmouth - had to turn over to Taggart!!

Coventry City are bracing themselves for a £1million bid from Middlesbrough for striker Leon Best.
The 23-year-old Irish international is keen to test himself at a higher level, meaning Middlesbrough may not appeal to the striker as it looks likely Boro will fail in their attempts to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

It is thought Coventry value Best, who is under contract at the Ricoh Arena until the end of next season, at around £2million so they may reject Boro's advances unless the Teesiders up their offer.

However, Middlesbrough are thought to be among a number of suitors for the striker and a bid of £2million may come in before the transfer window closes.

Leon, Keep away from Strachan, he is an idiot that managed to hide this by playing the fool in front of the tv cameras.

That is his one good trick but now pretty much every one has copped on.
