As one of my esteemed colleagues has stated - it's actually our fault this happened:
I actually blame us for all of this. Blaming Connor is just making him out to be a scapegoat in all of this. An innocent bystander if you will. We always blame the board for the ails of the club but they are virtually never changed. They have in fact a lot of experience in appointing managers over the last few years!
No. It is obvious that we are to blame. It is us that took our eyes off the ball in this one and disappointingly so.
Why did we not let the board know as soon as a ball was kicked in anger that Sean Connor was not the man for us? We should have given them a signal as soon as the season kicked off. How were they to know, to be led by us before it was too late? We should have been out in force from early days with banners, catcalls, pigs heads and we should have held the boards hand on this one like we proudly did for Pete Mahon, Stephen Kenny and Gareth Farrelly before him.
This must not happen again! We should not put ourselves in the position again whereby at least one hack this week blatantly and belligerently absolved us of all ‘fault’ for the sacking of Sean Connor. Certainly our most embarrassing performance to date and one we must NEVER repeat!
So from next seasons first game,… NAY, from next seasons first warm up game we must be out in force waving banners and catcalling for the new managers head. We must regain our dignity and pride as Irelands ONLY – Notorious Boo Boys!
Oh the shame.
End of rant.
