Glad to see he's getting a run of games, albeit at reserve level. I'm glad West Ham are easing him in as well...I think it's a good club to be at for this stage in his development.

Double Delight for Dixon
http://www.whufc.com/articles/double-delight-for-dixon-20091125_2236884_1885904

Terry Dixon had double reason to celebrate following West Ham United's 5-2 Barclays Premier Reserve League victory over Stoke City.
Dixon notched his maiden competitive goal for the Hammers before completing his first full 90 minutes for the club at Bishop's Stortford.
The 19-year-old, who is approaching full fitness after working his way back from a long-term knee injury, was understandably pleased with his night's work.
"It was a very good team performance," he told WHUTV. "We played really good football in the first half. We let it slip a bit at the start of the second half but we got it back and killed the game off, really."

While Dixon was happy with his own display, he also praised team-mates Kieron Dyer and Frank Nouble, who scored three goals and provided three assists between them.
It was striker-partner Nouble who laid on Dixon's goal, rolling the ball into his path on the edge of the penalty area.
"Kieron was different class. I hadn't really see him play but he made everybody calm down and play it simple. When you play it simple, the rest comes. We played good football in difficult conditions. When it's like that, you've got to keep it on the floor and keep playing. We had a little four in the middle of the park and we did well.
"I was pleased with my finish. I didn't really look. Frank played a decent ball back and I just cut it across the keeper. Frank played well. He's a big, strong lad and he just pins defenders for fun. I like playing with him. It's good."
Having come through the full game without any ill-effects, Dixon is gunning for more action in next Monday's reserve league fixture at Birmingham City.
After impressing in front of the watching Gianfranco Zola at Woodside Park, Dixon is also targeting a spot in the first-team squad.
"I was thinking that I didn't want Alex to take me off. I wanted to get through the whole 90 minutes and I did so I was chuffed with that.
"There's still a bit of work to do but I'm on the right road."

thats great news, fair play to the lad. And fair play to West Ham for taking a punt on him. I hope we are rewarded for West Hams and obviously Terry Dixons persistance.

Hope Spurs rue letting him go :D

Either Gary Breen or David Connolly

The reason Spurs let him go was because of the injury he had. Their medical people reckoned his knee wouldn't stand up to the rigours of the premiership.

Clive Clarke played there for a while too didn't he?

In the spirit of Irish red-heads at West Ham though, Steve Lomas must be singled out for carrying the, ahem, flame with great distinction.

Id still be wary to be honest. ALl he can do is built up the strength as much as possible and hope that it doesn't go out again.

Fair play to him, long way to go but always good to see players that are written off through injury or for whatever reason have the drive and determination to overcome it. He was a serious prospect a few years ago so hopefully he'll keep making progress.

Ya the problem for someone like him is that if he did his knee again it's curtains, with so many years to go in football he'll need a lot of luck to avoid it

Apparently theres another young striker at West Ham named Kieran Sadlier who played for the u16s recently.

Looks a very strong Blues side, I don't support the club but have heard of most of the players (ie they are experienced first-teamers, which probably isn't that usual in reserve football nowadays)?

Good to see Jonty back from injury and hopefully Robin Shroot (NI U-21) will push into the first team squad.

As well as Dixon, West Ham had Eoin Wearon on the bench. He's an U17 Irish international, ex St Kevins and is highly thought of.

What about Omar Bogle 46? Is he the inventer of that board game?
Thats the best name ive heard since Ger "The Mad Crosser" Crossley.
The Blues would be wise to keep Omar Bogle I believe.

Probably not, Freddie Sears is back from his loan spell at Crystal Palace, so he'll go straight into the first team squad.
On the other hand, that will boost Sean Scannell's chances of a regular first team spot at Selhurst Park, swings and roundabouts, eh?

Wondered why he missed the Sol Campbell comeback tonight

Went to whufc.com and it looked ominous: 'Forward Terry Dixon is missing with a minor knee injury'...but phew....'should be back in full training later this week.'

according to the schedule - http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12942,00.html - Sky are showing Wales VS Sweden and Scotland VS Czech Republic that night
you'd hope someone like Setanta or TG4 would step in and show it?

Dixon didn't make West Ham reserves game today, so he may be a doubt for the u21 game. Of course if he pulls out with injury the c*** Givens will say "he doesn't want to play for his country."

Not a Givens fan, but has he ever accused a player of faking injury?

geysir
25/02/2010, 9:26 AM
Nobody would have dared accuse Givens of faking an injury to avoid even the most mundane of international representative duty.

Givens was quite in order to question the circumstances around Stokes' possible awol and request a fax copy of doctors report that protocol requires should have been sent to him Just he can't seem to be able keep his mouth shut about "incidents" in front of the press.
