Brilliant! I'll watch that tonight. Why aren't RTE or TV3 shown it? Anyway, best of luck to Drogheda & Pat's tonight.

iirc - they have to pay to show the away legs - buying the coverage from the host broadcaster type of thing.

Plus would RTÉ send out a crew to San Marino to cover an eL side in Europe - methinks not!

Had a look at the Danish Sports Channel that would cover the Odense game - they're showing the Scousers against some Veterans team in a "friendly" instead

Programme starts on RTV at just before 8pm Irish time

It could be blocked in Ireland? Like Rte block other nations watching on the net. Could be hard trying to find a proxy address in san Marino

While I know the game you're playing, I think anyone Irish underestimating a San Marinese team this year is due for a fall.

Well SS Murata the champions of their league only lost 2-1 to Tampere United of Finland the other day. The Finnish league is probably of a similar standard to the Eircom League so Drogheda may not rack up too many, especially away from home. I think they'll win both legs, though.

I predicted 0-2 and 4-0 wins for Drogheda in the other thread but in light of that reasonably impressive (for a San Marino side) result the other day, I'm changing that to 0-1 and 3-0.

Nah - never had a problem watching these tinpot channels before.

Watched Andorra - Israel on the Andorran National Broadcaster's website the other week with no problems.

In my experience RTÉ are the only station which does block content on the web

None of us really know what they are like. All we know is that they lowely ranked and have not got a good track record in Europe and that they are amateur just like most LOI sides

Most LOI sides are semi-pro.

deliberately talking this up as a foregone conclusion, so the result will either be your vindication or ammunition for your rants against Irish football in future. Win-win.

Thanks for the link. AFAIK there are about 300 Drogs based in Rimini and travelling into San Marino just before ko and returning to the Bounty Bar immediately afterwards. The owner has fixed the price of drink and opened at 11am this morning for the Drog fans , layed on busses to the game and looking after them very well. He must be on his way to a 2nd Ferrari by this stage after the killing he made for the Ireland game.
Best of luck to Pats tonight as well , keep the flag flying.

Yeah , true allright micls , have been txting some of them today and there are 4 double decker coaches full travelling from Rimini , then others making their own way plus some bases themselves in San Marino itself. 300 would be spot-on.

They took a lot to Kristiansand as well for the away leg of the IK Start game last season

iceman

I travelled both to Helsinki and Kristiansand last season , and this trip has worked out at a snip of the cost of the games in Scandanavia , most of the fans booked with ryanair to Bologna , either direct or via Frankfurt , some got it for around €100 while those booking later paid about €200. 3-Star hotels in Rimini for €50 per room per night. All in all a rather inexpensive trip.

It is a foregone conclusion and could you take your conspiricey theories and shove them somewhere uncomfortable.

I wish Drogs all the best and they are the first result I look at down south. Out of all teh teams in the ROI i hope they get the furthest.

LADS! I just checked the UEFA website to look at the squads of various teams and there is no mention of Vilmunen? Does anyone know if he was definitely registered to play ( he's surely been there long enough )?

I don't know where they're getting their information from. Just look at Pat's squad!

Yeah reitoeir is way off about RTÉ here. The BBC and all major broadcasters' sites do it. When it's sports broadcasts rights come into it too. Hence a lot of the blocked stuff. It's called geoblocking BTW.

He was way off about the Rosenberg Bohs game earlier too but I let that one go. :D

I don't use the BBC site for that kind of thing (seeing as I live there and have a DAB Radio) - the only time I've watched stuff on there was some Scottish club matches in Europe and they weren't blocked.

In my experience - I've never had problems with any geoblocking (CBC, NRK, TV2 in Norway all watchable)

And the emails I received from the Sports Department of TV3 Viasat in Norway concerning the Rosenborg match must have been fakes then! :D

Well SS Murata the champions of their league only lost 2-1 to Tampere United of Finland the other day.
Murata had a World cup winner in their team, and two players with a combined 500 Serie A appearances and numerous European appearances. I would imagine they'd be a slightly different proposition to Libertas.

That said, the obvious stuff about underestimating the opposition does come into play.

And also, if more evidence was needed that shocks can and do happen: check out this scoreline

Santa Coloma 1-0 Maccabi Tel Aviv

Santa Coloma are a semi-pro side from Andorra, a country whose clubs had until now failed to even draw a leg in Europe, while Maccabi have previously made the group stages of the UEFA Cup.

An incredible result.

I kid you not. (http://www.livescore.com/)

Saw that - phenomenal result. Fair dues to them.

Without wanting to sound tacky, it's what the competition is all about. Though they'll probably get hockeyed in the away leg. First ever non-defeat for Andorra in European competition, I think.
