Ah now, it's hardly fair to blame her for The Phantom Menace

True, but she does have Pirates 1 and to a lesser extent Love Actually included in her win column through no doing of her own, so I think its a valid bad Keira movie

Great movie , but only because of Steve Buscemi and John Malcovich(sp).

I'm thinking of the Cage one where he keeps going on about his fcuking Snakeskin coat. Possibly had Laura Dern in it.
Think that's Honeymoon in Vegas

Even though it's from the early 80's I have to mention Gorky Park as I just saw it recently. For some reason I had it in my head it was supposed to be a pretty decent movie. Utter tripe.

Not a bad movie for 1983 imo.Bound to look dated at this stage.

There's too many to chose from. For me though it has to be all those crappy comdey by numbers films staring Will Ferrell or Owen Wilson - what a load of tripe they are.

Smokin Aces if horrific.
Matrix 2 & 3

Magnolia is very heavy but not a bad movie. It is however not your popcorn type movie.

I would not go so far to say its a bad movie but I never got the whole Donie Darko thing (too much hype?) eventhough I usually like movies like that...

I will however nominate every Eddie Murphy movie since Beverly Hills Cops. How many times can you dress up as woman?

I loved Magnolia thought it was one of the best films I have ever seen. Soundtrack is great also.

Worst film I ever had the displeasure of seeing in the cinema was 'Dude, where's my car?'. 'Fortress' with Christopher Lambert is bad film I enjoy watching for some reason.

Oceans Twelve was terrible.
I saw some film today on sky family or something...about an island and there were these "giant ants" and carmen electra was in it? Well anyway, it has got to be the worst made film i have ever seen.
Epic movie is also crap

Few of us went to see Syriana there last year. Was fairly glad when yer man beside me asked me what had been happening for the past half hour, cos I was hoping I wasn't the only one completely lost. Ends with the revelation that someone is Canadian just before he's blown up. I want those two and a half hours back.

In fairness, Nicholas Cage is a very good actor.

The Village should be omitted, if only for the stabbing scene.

Have to agree there , it was on RTE last night and I kept timimg it to tune in when I thought this scene was coming on. It is brilliantly done.

Its pretty similiar to M Night Sayalman's (sp/) other movie Signs , where the Alien is caught on camera during the kids party. Class scene.

Just on Cage again ...I'll safely nominate his remake of Wicker Man despite not having seen it.

Does anyone throw him an Uzi as they're about to set him alight or does he get to shout "killing me won't bring back your apples" in his inimitable "style".

He wasn't Canadian. He'd just told the guy in the jeep that he was Canadian earlier.

As an aside, if you ever hear a UCD fan saying, "You're the Canadian," it's become slang for "You're acting quite stoned, don't you know."

Aww no, Syriana was class. Its not that hard to follow. Were you drunk?
We had 2 B.Comms, 2 B.E.s and an English lit PhD there (if not more), all sober, and we decided after much debate that the movie was ****.

I know you probably didn't mean to come across as an academic snob, but read that gain and see what you make of it

In other news I understood Syriana and thought it was decent enough

Not the point - just pointing out that these weren't a collection of morons who mostly watch love island. Or is pointing out that you didn't understand what I meant academic snobbery too?

I think there should be two categories.

Obviously bad films that don't pretend to be otherwise (Dude, where's my car etc)

Films that have pretentions of being good (Signs, The English patient etc )

IMO the the first category doesn't really belong here as they do exactly what they say they're doing. If you watch Dude, Where's My Car you get exactly the film you should be expecting. I've nothing against these films. I won't watch most of them but still

The other kind are films that really really disappoint you. These are films that should be on this list

Thats snobbery of the highest order, who's to say someone who watches Love Island or any of the rest of those shows won't understand Syriana or any other movie, or that their opinion is any less valid than your academic view?

Agreed. Films like "Dude Wheres My Car" and "Deuce Bigalow" probably meet the expectations of those who wanted to watch them in the first place.

Others, like Signs, The Village, and in my opinion Fight Club, think they are sending a message, cloak themselves in layers of supposedly deep meaning, but finally are about nothing at all. These are the films that really disappoint us, I think.

Oh, FFS, opinions have nothing to do with this. Really, think about what that word means, and ask yourself where I dismissed anyone's opinion. And yes, I was snobby there about the TV I watch. Tie that in to academia, and you'll have a piece of fiction worthy of a Nobel prize.

BTW, apologies Dodge, I misread your tone.

Others, like Signs, The Village, and in my opinion Fight Club,

Oh yeah. I HATED Fight Club. When it got to the end my reaction was "Oh, for Christs sake. I wasted two hours for THIS outcome.
(BTW I thought Signs was OK - haven't seen The Village.) Another film which came highly recommended to me was The Royal Tennenbaums, which I just didn't get at all.
